re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

The first time you look at it, you will fail to recognize this as Honda Jazz. In fact Honda could have launched this car with a different name and people would have believed them.

The exteriors look completely different and I think Honda designers have a done a good job in giving fresh life to Jazz. While design has changed, the good part is that Honda engineers have continued to focus on practicality and it seems to tick all boxes that an Indian consumer will look for.

Exteriors
- Front gets a new head lamp, grill and fog lamp. There are also LED DRLs
- Bonnet has a depression at the center for better air flow
- Specially from the side and rear it looks very sporty
- Creases on the side similar to what we saw in Amaze add more character to the car and makes it look longer
- The top crease running parallel to waistline gives it a very bold look as it beautifully gels with the rear lights
- A, B and C pillars seems to well designed and should not create any blind spot
- Hybrid version seems to be fitted with Bridgestone ECOPIA tires. Will be interesting to see which tires Honda offers in India
- Rear now has LED tail lamps, bigger air vents, rear spoiler and chrome strip carrying Honda badge running across the boot lid
- Unlike previous version, lower half of the rear curves down in flow with the wheel arches
- Rear wiper like previous version will step out from the chrome strip instead of rear glass. I think this is the best solution as this enables longer wiper blades and hence clear view during rains. In most of the hatchbacks, rear wiper steps from the rear glass itself and hence has smaller wiper blades

Interiors
- Spacious interior with best in class legroom which has increased by 2 inches and rear seat width which is comfortable for 3 adults
- Boot space has increased from 366L to 416L
- All buttons and knobs on dashboard has been replaced with touchscreen device
- Push start button
- Magic seats
- Computer trip which will now show details on distance to empty, fuel efficiency, temperature, etc.
- HDMI slot, this will again be first for its segment. HDMI, USB, and power slot will all have cover cap
- Tilt and telescopic steering
- Driver seat arm rest
- Height adjustable seat belts which could again be first in its class
- The biggest change could be digital speedometer similar to what we see in Civic. This will make it even more appealing
- All standard safety features including ABS, Airbags, etc. There could be a blind spot warning system as well

Engines
In India, it will most probably come up with 1.2-litre iVTEC petrol and 1.5-litre iDTEC diesel engines, which also power the Amaze

I have read some comments on look and quality of interiors. One must realize that this is pre production version and hence companies don't spend too much in having best quality interiors in test vehicles.

Once launched, you may get to see better quality interiors which has always been a hallmark of Honda. For India, we can expect beige and black color dual tone interiors. Also expect some chrome finish inside.

Thanks for the link

It’s good to know that they are doing some extensive testing in Germany. Benchmarks with European build, along with Honda reliability sounds to be a good combination. And another big plus is the dual clutch gearbox mentioned. Not sure if they are getting this only for the hybrids.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

WoW!! The Jazz was always a brilliant car with class leading space and good looks. Except for that rear bumper which is awful (for me) and that tacky dashboard, this upgrade looks good and sharp. Volvo-esque tail light on that brown/black car looks awesome.

Rear seat space looks perfect and more than regular segment fare. Plonk the 1.6 diesel and with a good price and it will be flying off the showroom stockyard like the EcoSport is..

Choosing between this and the EcoSport is going to be very tough. Lovely car.

Any idea about new Honda Jazz's Indian arrival? In my opinion positioning Jazz in existing product line up will be a tough task for Honda.

They will price it above Amaze, since the Jazz has a bigger boot space, much more legroom (probably as good or better then a Nissan Sunny) and it also has innovative magic seats, superior dash and instrument console.

Now Ford EcoSport pricing is certainly good just like the Figo which has better build, more boot space, more legroom and better handling then a Maruti Swift, yet the Figo is a lot cheaper then a swift. But Honda did price the Brio much higher then the Figo.

@tjacob,k_ajay
The new Jazz on the other hand will have more interior space then even the Ecosport and Duster and for sure will corner a lot faster. The only thing the EcoSport and Duster have is the Ground clearance and the higher road presence.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

As per following article in CarDekho the all new Honda City which will be based on Jazz platform will be unveiled at the Auto Expo next year in Jan/Feb

http://www.cardekho.com/india-car-ne...expo-10818.htm

This could mean that Honda may start testing Jazz in India by end of this year with target launch in early Q1 next year.

Only reason for delay could be Rajasthan plant which is not ready yet to start production.

As far as pricing of petrol variants is concerned, it could be 5.25 - 7 lacs with 7 lacs for AT. Diesel could be a lac more for each variant.

The new jazz looks awesome. If they price it at par with the amaze, I would pick the jazz everytime. But I wonder what our "boot" loving masses will prefer.
Hope honda doesnt skimp on the features. A fully loaded new jazz will surely be the best premium hatch in the country on this side of 10lacs.
I also wish they keep an option with their 1.5 ivtec motor.

Looks really premium and sophisticated in this particular shade-

Very distinguishable, and will definitely turn heads. Will it come to India though?

Very true. The good news is - 2014 Honda Jazz will be coming to India by next year. Not very sure about the exact timing. To bring this model to India, they stopped production of existing model in India. Eagerly waiting to see it in flesh.

re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

There is no way this beauty can be priced below that of Amaze. Which is again bad because majority of Indians will think this is just a hatch back and priced above a Sedan(Amaze)

I wonder if this car is really sub 4m ? It is going to be very tricky for Honda to price this below amaze.

Honda seem to be pretty aggressive for Indian market in 2014, where as others like Toyota,Hyundai etc will be late with their models in 2015

Just look at that cleverly retained low-slung boot for easy loading and unloading! Beautiful.

Honda will price Jazz starting at 5.25 lacs which means it will be on par with Amaze pricing and this is absolutely fine.

The way Honda looks at this is that they have 2 platforms, one is Brio based on which they have Brio, Amaze and upcoming 7 seater MUV and other is a Jazz based platform on which they will have Jazz 2014, City 2014 and Jazz based MUV. So pricing will be such that cars based on same platform will not compete with each other.

If they were to worry about cannibalization and price Jazz higher than Amaze then that will push pricing of City upwards which will then push pricing of Brio based MUV upwards. Eventually you may have 2 MUVs and 1 SUV from Honda in the price range of 12-20 lacs.

Can you please mention the source of this information? Or is it just an opinion you have expressed?

There is a big pricing gap between the city and amaze. And my feeling is that the car will be priced in this slot. However, I'd really like it if what you have mentioned is from a reliable source.
