Missing:

1. Start Stop Button 2. Keyless Entry 3. Cruise Control 4. Rear Parking Sensors
So it is already on the back foot when compared to Elite i20. Except for cruise control, the i20 has everything else in its top variant.

Re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

Following are the differences between VX and V variant which we can observe from all the leaked photographs thus far

Exterior
VX

- Sporty rear spoiler with LED stop lamp
- Rear parking camera

VX & V (Common features)
- Fog lamp
- Micro antenna
- Rear washer and wipe
- Alloy wheels
- Chrome strip at the rear
- Black front grill with chrome lip
- ORVM with turn indicators

Interior
VX

- 15.7 cm touch screen display with built-in satellite-based voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation
- DVD/CD playback
- All black interiors

V
- 5" non touchscreen ICE
- CD player
- Black and beige interiors

VX & V (Common features)
- Bluetooth connectivity
- USB, HDMI and AUX inputs
- iPod connectivity
- Leather wrapped steering wheel
- Touch screen AC controls

I am still wondering. From a features perspective there is not much difference between VX and V variant.

VX comes with all black interiors and sporty rear spoiler. Is Honda still holding back Ace in its pack? Will it launch VX with 1.5l engine. That would truly make it a sporty Jazz and something to watch out for

At the risk of repeating myself this is how I will objectively compare the i20 Asta and Jazz VX. Other than the ones mentioned in your post, there are a lot other features missing in Jazz. Let me list them below

Advantage i20
  • Pure Key-less entry and go (Request button on door handle + Push-button start / stop button)
  • Rear AC vents
  • Rear parking sensors
  • Rear view camera with dynamic guidelines
  • Automatic Day / Night IRVM
  • R16 195 tires with stunning Diamond cut alloys
  • 6 gears in diesel - Jazz might most probably get only 5
  • Telescopic steering adjustment
  • Information in MID regarding specific doors open, service reminder and warning if Wheel is not straight

But there are some features in Jazz, not available in i20 as well. Guess we should look the other side as well.
Advantage Jazz
  • Touch-Screen HU with AVN
  • Touch-Screen ACC interface (not a great advantage – but a differentiation feature (only for the gadget freak))
  • Magic Seats offering a lot of flexibility in the interiors
  • Rear view camera with 3 views (assuming this is carried over from City)
  • Instant FE, Average FE and Distance to Empty in the MID
  • Auto speed-sensing door lock
  • Loads of extra space on the interiors and boot
  • Sporty Black interiors with white stitching
  • Stub antenna compared to a generation old long antenna in i20

Basically the advantage for i20, is that the gizmos available in it but missing in Jazz are very attention grabbing and will probably influence the decision making of an individual. Most extra features in Jazz are not that attention grabbing (except touch-screen HU + AVN). Thus, when a common man looks, there i20 has a slight advantage.

Subjective comparison of the two, in my opinion is as below.
  • Ride - Low speed comfort will be much better in i20, but Jazz might have a slight advantage in high speeds
  • Handling - Jazz might have a slight advantage thanks to the stiffer suspension setup
  • Steering feel - Both of them are light in both city and highways - may be Jazz will have a slightly better feel - individual verdict will differ with each person.
  • Cornering ability - Jazz might have a slight advantage again thanks to the stiffer suspension setup, but will not be very different.
  • Overall quality - Plastic and overall build quality is definitely advantage i20. Expecting Jazz to be no better than City, i20 is miles ahead.
all other subjective parameters except overall build quality are pretty even, I guess.

Damager21, in addition, VX might get the heat-insulated wind-shield and an extra reading light like in City. And with these features itself, VX will be pricier than V by around 50k. I do not think we have any more surprises here.

Re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

In the gaadi.com article posted above, it says ...

"Expect class leading space along with practical touches. Price wise the Jazz will be positioned slightly above the a Amaze. We will be driving the car in Goa next week - stay tuned for our expert take on the all-new Honda Jazz!"

I guess that's what most of us expected.

The all black interiors for the VX variant is a superb move.

I feel Honda should have come up with better alloy design though

The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

Attachment 1378805

Couldn't help noticing that in case of a rear-end shunt, the Jazz's boot stands to take the hit. The bumpers seem to be solely for aesthetic purposes these days.

OT: Sure, one may argue that even the City/ Ciaz have similar bumpers which do not extend as much as they should (and why's that? I dont think the manufacturers have any length specifications to adhere to as, that they have exceeded the 4m one. I do understand that Jazz is sub-4m so, one can't really complaint) but given that the boot stands too low in case of the Jazz, hefty bills will now be the norm! And Honda sure, will be happy minting money

The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

Overall better than the older honda jazz. One doesn't need parking sensors if you are having a reverse camera in place and even if you need them one has the aftermarket options available. Yes keyless entry and go/ start stop button are a norms these days but one can do it without them also.

*Honda is going for a killer pricing(8.32 lacs top end vx variant) might be the reason they skipped start stop button.

*One of the big questions is the transmission. Hope to see the 1.5 diesel with 6-speed transmission but all the reports are inclined towards 5-speed box.

*Second is Would Honda limit the speed of jazz to 140 kph like in case of amaze and mobilio.

*Third would be build quality of honda jazz when compared to i20.

* Honda jazz would be definitely better in terms of ride and handling. i20 steering still lacks feedback during highway runs and requires constant input.
IMO still the jazz is going to be a fantastic product considering the value it would offer in terms of space and considering they would offer magic seats. The car should deliver a mileage of 25+ considering the same thing powers city and amaze and we all know how indians respond to the good mileage cars e.g. swift.

Re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

The way I see it, and I hope it makes sense, is, if Brio, Amaze and Mobilio are clubbed together, it's because of the common platform they're sharing. Thus, the 5 speed manual and speed limiter at 140 km/h. The Jazz is based on the City and going by that logic, it will definitely get the 6 speed MT from the City as well as no speed limiter in place. Even the interiors are based on the City if that's any clue. I would bank on a 6 speed MT for the Jazz with no speed limiter.

What about the build quality?
And can we expect phone controls on steering.

Re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

Autocar knows nothing or trying to claim exclusivity. If you have a dealer friend in Delhi NCR, they would now know most of the important details. My friend at Ring Road Gurgaon attended a training session in the morning. I talked to him today before that. For me the relevant stuff was 1.2 petrol which is also in AT but not for the top version. So nothing for me.

Re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

An interesting thing for me is in the first picture, Between the acc and steering there could be a possibility of a start stop button. Maybe these pictures are not of the top end variant or there could be a vx(o) variant in the works also.
