I agree to an extent. The ARAI figure for Diesel City is 26. In Daily bumper to bumper drive i have achieved 22kmpl with AC off and between 17-19kmpl with AC on regularly. On Highway, max i got was 24kmpl but there are members who have achieved 26kmpl as well.

Considering the same engine options, i expect Jazz to give a better mileage than City in real life figures.

Anyone knows when the TD starts?

This tagline is perfectly suiting me and hence I am not buying Jazz since it does not have ESP :(

I visited the Whitefield Honda showroom near my home last Friday to enquire about Jazz and try to get a sneak peek of the Jazz, if they had one there. When I understood they knew much less than us and also that they will not show me the Jazz in their stockyard, I asked them to show me the augmented reality experience. And then the guys there were like "No saar, that is only for some showrooms in North India. We dont have anything like that saar" I was like "OK, thanks for all the service" and left.

Not sure if they were ignorant or if they really were not provided with the stuff. I will not be in Bangalore this weekend - probably I will check with them once again next week and also check with other showrooms. Hope I get to see what they have done with it

Re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

On this subject, can we get an after market ECM rearview mirror for the Jazz? Or is it specifically linked to the electronics of the car? I think it can be done , because this is one feature that I really did want in the car. Members comment?

Re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

The pricing will be very important for this vehicle to succeed. However the interiors differ a lot from the international variant of the Fit. I am eagerly looking forward to its launch. Shortlisted it along with Liva and Swift.

One can easily install a ECM IRV mirror in the aftermarket. You can look at brands like Gentex which is a major manufacturer for the same with many models in their productline which easily match and in some cases even supercede the absolute quality of ECM mirrors provided stock in certain high end cars. They are pretty pricey though. Yes, one does need to tap into the factory wiring for positive, continous power and ground but honestly a pretty minor hassle to install the same. Its very useful in the long run especially for those doing a lot of night time driving. Hope it helps.

Cheers

Honda has officially released a teaser in this morning's TOI for the new Jazz. Bookings open, it says. I hope Honda can challenge the i20 by pricing the Jazz right.

I guess the ADs are placed in leading dailies in the respective regions. If someone from Tamil Nadu can confirm this is in the Hindu, the case can be cconsidered solved

I was also a bit surprised to see a teaser like advert, rather than a colourful full page collage. Perhaps, they are saving that for the first week of July.

But not all that bad in my opinion either. Perhaps I feel this way because you sort of sink into the low slung seats and your back is amply cushioned and supported. I haven't really sat at the rear seat that much to have a strong opinion on the same. What I have noticed, is that crossing your legs and sitting gives pretty good support for the legs. I am 5' 11".

Here are a few more improvements I expect in the new Jazz:

3) Auto-locking of doors. Something that a WagonR has, but is missing in a car that cost twice as much at the time.
I agree with Ashwin. Thigh support may not be great but with better legroom that lets you stretch your legs in long drives helps reduce fatigue. My family members often tell me this and find the drive less tiring in Jazz.

And yes Honda, please get speed based auto locking doors. Even when I fitted Autocop-Honda anti-theft device it is not available. In the after market system installed long back on my Esteem, the doors lock when engine is cranked and unlock when you pull out the key.

Re: The 2015 Honda Jazz (3rd-gen)

Is the speed-sensitive auto lock there in the City? Very useful feature indeed!

It's something which is not there in the old Jazz as well and something which I miss.
When I went through the manual, I found that in the international version, this feature is there and they even allow the user to program the speed at which doors should automatically lock. I was hoping that the new generation jazz would have this features but alas!

If the don't have it in the City as well, I am surprised that they got away with this as City seems to be rocking the sales charts. I guess most car buying public are swayed by the 'visible' features (touch screen ACC = WOW factor) and not much informed about the 'invisible' but really useful features.
