| ![]() I am not sure how comfortable its going to be for the rear passenger ingress/egress, considering how much narrow the bottom of the rear door is compared to the front door. Personally I feel , Hyundai wanted to make a Polo .I just hope they took care of the ride and handling part and put in a turbocharged 1.2 ![]() |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() My birdie at Hyundai confirms that the all-new 2015 i20 has been fasttracked for an August 2014 launch. Invites to all dealerships' marketing heads have been sent out for a sales/marketing presentation-cum-conference in the first week of August, together with the technical training sessions shortly after. Promos should start from mid-month onwards together with the media drives, with a launch being discussed (most possibly) as a date in the 3rd/last week of August 2014. Pricing is expected to be close to the current-gen i20, give or take a few thousand rupees (speculation). No concrete info on this as of now. |

Hyundai is now trying to replicate Maruti's strategy of confusing customers once they plan to enter the showroom.

Infractions: 0/1 (4) | ![]() My sources confirm that the vehicle production has not yet started. The production should start by August 1st week, and also Hyundai has taken up the handling benchmark of the Fiat Punto as the reference. Also, the old i20 will be phased out. |

Hope Hyundai reads this, they don't have to look that far for inspiration. The Getz is a good driving machine with adequate power and feedback for a mix of city/open roads. Punto's suspension/ride is the best but Getz beats it convincingly in the gear shift and tighter steering. The i20 has been a joke as far as handling goes. I like 'H' but my preferences are different from 'H' philosophy. Give a car with basic safety and power windows that drives well. No camera/sensors/auto-lights/DRL's etc, I can easily park on my own. Just make it drive well and price it @ 7 on road. No gimmicks all substance. Last edited by dark.knight : 14th July 2014 at 09:36.

| ![]() I think Hyundai should really continue i20 the way it is. For many of us enthusiasts, the steering feel and suspension setup might not be to our tastes. But I know a lot (I mean, a lot) of people who like this kind of setup. Many don't understand suspension setup, but swear by the (lack of) feel in the steering. It is so easy to drive it in traffic, and so easy to turn it and park it. In general, I don't understand why cars are being made into what they are not known for. Another example is Corolla. |

| ![]() I wonder what extra gimmicks are they going to offer in that price bracket where the iGen i20 is already present with loaded features. The current i20 misses out on fuel consumption info in its MID, but other than that, I wonder whats in store for us with the new i20. |

| ![]() It can be both easy to drive in the city, and nicely weighted on the highway, like the (new) Ford Fiesta. The steering complaints with the Hyundais are not about the light mode in the city, but how light and vague it feels at highway speed.s |

Distinguished - BHPian ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hyundai to call the new i20 as Grand i20. The existing i20 to co-exist similar to the Grand i10 strategy. Speculated to be unveiled in India in August while globally it will be launched at the Paris show. ![]() Quote:

| ![]() Looking at the side profile and the thick C-pillar of the new i20, I believe it would make a good looking proportionate sedan if they stick a boot to it. It would be interesting if they were to adopt a strategy of multiple sedan cars in a similar price bracket just like they have in the hatchback segment. Maybe they can discontinue the 1.4L variants of the Verna and introduce those engines in the Grand i20 sedan. ![]() |

| ![]() Grand i20 having the same 89BHP diesel engine is a disappointment. They should have given an option of 1.6 CRDI to make it a real hot hatch. Ofcourse with a stiffer suspension |

| ![]() I believe they are testing a new 1.5L mill (as reported by ODI sometime back) for the Grand i20. The power figures could be better, but will those better than Polo TDi GT is a big "?". |
