Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

they have added a DRL and start-stop engine option. would have expected the DRL on the headlights and not on fogs, would have made the Swift look more aggressive.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

Those alloys look like hubcaps. Really poor effort.

Its good they are adding more features, but it is still way behind the competition like i20 and Polo in terms of quality and premium feel.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

Phone control button visible on the lower left? So the HU now gets Bluetooth? Perhaps, these changes could trickle down to the Ertiga as well.

The alloys bear a resemblance to the ones on the facelift Polo:

With the start-stop system, the keyfob would be similar to that offered with the Ciaz (and the Kizashi).

Those look like plastic inserts not DRLs. Unless I am missing something.

EDIT 2:

Looks like those were meant for DRLs as indicated in the image below but they didn't make the cut:

Couldn't agree more with you Gannu. I guess Maruti engineers have the following 'Design Moto' :

- We know we can never design a good looking car, why not copy 1 thing at a time from our Competition !! We have copied DRLs from I-gen I20 (which is not around now) and Alloys from Polo (see we can also update our design) for this iteration .

- Why try and pamper our customers when they could care less about comfort, considering we have the best service network in the country.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

I don't know if, its just me but, I really loved the current alloy wheel design of the Swift twins. To add, for me, it was the one of the best OEM designs from amongst the plethora cars on offer in the market.

Were the start-stop button, el cheapo drls (hope they aren't as bright as the ones on the previous generation i20!) and an alloy wheel redesign the only changes? Surprisingly, these took a lot of time to be brought into effect in that case.

Cheers,

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

I feel that this is a half-hearted attempt in face-lifting the Swift. Compared to the current two block-buster facelifts, the new Polo and the Elite i20, the Swift update is pretty negligible.

In my opinion, the real facelift of the Swift will be when there is much better legroom at the rear, considerable boot space (+50-60 litres at least) and slightly better tyres.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

Facelift? Where is the facelift? What did I miss?

At the cost of repeating other forum members' observation, the alloys bear a suspiciously close resemblance to the alloys on the new Polo.

And what is with the extended tips on the headlamp housings? IIRC, even the new i20 has that. I foresee a day when the headlamps will extend far back enough and the taillamps will wrap around to the front enough for the two to meet somewhere near the B pillar. Whatever has happened to automobile designers' "sense of proportion"?

Maruti you have spoiled the car with those silly looking Alloy wheels. Please fire the design in charge for the Alloys wheels. One of the worst designs I have seen.

Another cubby hope lost which made way for the Start / Stop button. Already the car is short on space to seat and store.

I am happy that I have the older version, just that I miss the Start / Stop button.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

If Maruti can tune the Ciaz for 20 kmpl with a comparatively heavy body and larger engine, why cant they use the facelift to tune the Swift for 21+ kmpl. The rest of the features dont make much sense from saleability perspective like the mileage card.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

Personally I think the facelift looks great.

Agree with other members that the designs have been copied from the competition and Maruti could have gone for something different or original.

But even so it still looks modern and contemporary.

My only wish is that they should introduce the 90ps DDiS engine in the facelifts and maybe have a Satnav enabled touch screen system.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

I don't think anyone really cares about this silly stuff. The elephant in the room is, did they fix the brakes?

The ones on L/V*i variants are just pathetic.

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

I thought the DRLs were for the upcoming Suzuki Swift Sport which was spotted during testing. Are these changes across all variants ?

Re: 2014 Suzuki Swift Facelift Revealed

Changes to New Swift which i noticed from pictures above are:
1) All new front bumper with bigger air-dam, bigger foglamp recess with plastic cladding around them.
2) New Radiator grille.
3) New Alloy wheel design.
4) Chrome or Red combination door handles as per variant & color combination.
5) Push Button Start stop feature(on top-end hopefully).
6) Bluetooth Telephony & its controls on steering wheel.

Regarding DRLs, they are a gone story now.
No Indian manufacturer follows the trend now, except Tata motors whose Zest top-end comes with DRLs & CKD European cars.

Hyundai exited this trend with their latest i20 elite. Hopefully this Swift facelift will not feature(as per spy shot suggests).

Expectedly as per market trends & Safety demands of today, i expect Standard Driver Airbag across the Swift range & ABS standard across Swift Diesel range, atleast.

Have my reservations on this one, my friend. They didn't even standardize this on their "premium" offering - the Ciaz. So, my guess would be that this is very hard to come by .
