The Swift Sport with the same specs. as posted above seem to be retailing in the UK in both 3-door and 5-door variants - Suzuki Swift Sport.

Specs. look brilliant especially with 136 horses on tap. Keyless entry - check, Alu. sporty pedal cluster - check, twin exhausts - check, climate controlled AC - check, HID headlamps with washers - check, manual 6-speed gearbox - check.

If this one makes it to India, this would make a killer hot hatch! And with Maruti's unrivaled after-sales and customer support, this would sell like hot cakes. Honestly, an enthusiast would rarely be concerned about the fuel efficiency when they opt for performance hatchbacks.

Strangely, the ORVMs lack blinkers like the test mule spotted here.

Above all these, the car is fully loaded on safety features – ABS with EBD, Brake Assist, ESP, 7 airbags, disc brakes etc.; not something we’re used to see in the Suzuki models sold in India (Kizashi probably was the only exception) :)

Difference is simple - Kizashi was a Suzuki product without localization. So they couldn't do cost cutting measures on it.

Everything else are Maruti products with localization.

Guys, a lot of wishlist for the Swift.

Just curious, did Maruti update the brakes in the lower variants?

Also I feel the window glasses need to be thicker ( or better insulated) as a lot of outside noise creeps in even with windows raised up.

I doubt this will happen. Maruti uses Syndicate and it will happily continue using one.

Yes! Smoked ones with nice LED and a new design instead of copying the i20 style!

Specially the interiors and central console feel and look. Hope the instrumentation console is not changed. I don't mind the one posted in the last post of the UK Swift Sport!

I can say the same for Honda CRV.

No, The sales manager now is saying nothing much is on the L & V variants for the brakes. Yet to know the real stuff soon.

Syndicate makes wiper blades right? I am talking about the plastic stalks on the inside. Its not like MSIL doesn't know how to do it. The one in our A-star is of much better quality.

The bulb is 35w now and H8. I like the spread but the throw is pretty bad. And it is difficult to get better bulbs in H8 (Night Breaker etc.).

Nothing more to add other than what I have written in the ownership thread. I am afraid you'll have to live with the car for a little time in the city to understand this better. This is one area where the TDs don't help.

Suzuki showcased Swift DJE at the Tokyo motor show. DJE comprise of regenerative braking and start - stop technology, which results in 1.2 litre petrol delivering 26.4 kmpl. Also there is color changing speedometer which changes color depending on the throttle response.

Great show by Suzuki on the tech front. Looks like they'll get a lot of tax exemptions due to the efficiency and might help them sell it at a reasonable price in Japanese market.

BTW, it seems to be available only with the AT box, since they have made paddle shifter also as standard across all variants.

Its a shame that these features won't appear on the international model and they won't introduce it in Europe/India.

Hey guys, I'm in the market for a happy go lucky hatchback, I've taken a liking towards swift. Any idea when will they launch the new model?

Btw: didn't even consider the polo twins I think this is my companion for the road.

I am expecting the refresh for the Swift could be by year end in the worst case. My dealers Sales manager said it could be in July or August.

Would expect the facelift by the festive season ( Oct- Nov), You never know Maruti's game plan, AMT too could debut in Swift by then.:)

AMT could be for petrol variants mostly if I am not wrong. The diesel engine torque is too high to handle it I guess. Correct me if I am wrong.

It doesnt actually matter for the AMT since the transmission will be the same. If they bolt on the AMT module onto the existing transmission, there wont be issues. Thats the advantage Maruti has now got with the AMT. With the AMT, they can go higher up the FE way and the turbo lag can be avoided by programming the transmission to stay in lower gears if accelerating.

VW did it with its Polo and 1.6 engine.

Maruti could use the 1.6 from the SX4 and do a heart transplant with the Swift in limited edition to make it a sought after car, with the robust Maruti network of MASS.
