Re: Your *unconventional* Automotive Preferences Petrol engines: This is a very controversial part. Depends on the fuel prices but to be frank I feel the new age diesel engines are equal to petrol engine performance and it is hard to tell what is underneath the hood until a logo or 'D' is spotted on the car. This is a very good progress by the industry and commendable. Parking Sensors: I really feel the need of these sensors in long wheel base cars and SUV's where visibility is low and parking in tight spots is difficult. I guess the CV segment is the most needful of this feature than hatchbacks. Sun Roof: This feature also doesn't make much sense for Indian conditions. Specially having the sun roof open and you are waiting beside a RTC bus and a person from inside without paying attention spits 'Paan', you have had it big time. This is the only thing that comes in my mind when I see a sun roof. Engine Sound: I drive using the engine sound and the way it communicates with me rather watch a needle swing about. The RPM gauge is a good feature for newbies but old and well versed drives would be using the sound of the engine. A loud revving engine is what I fancy and NOT the diesel clatter! Safety: The Indian customer has no idea of these features and is least bothered if the car sports any or no. Just mileage mileage and mileage. The ever famous question "Kitna deti Hai?!" If this question is answered and the customer is satisfied then let the car be bare bones it sells! Rear Wash/Wipe: Absolutely needed for a hatchback as the rear visibility is hampered in rainy season and I hate the feeling of having no rear visibility. The IRVM is useless in rainy season if no rear wipe is available. I am suffering with the Ritz VDi (model 2010) so my next car HAS to have this feature whatsoever.
