Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

Sharp, taut profile. Can we dare to dream about a future Figo S..? As long as there is that EcoBoost motor, there is hope!

Well, they had a generation old platform for Figo! It will be interesting to see what Ford does for the next one.!

I too feel so. 2014 is too early unless there is some drastic drop in Figo sales. Besides, they took forever to launch the Ecosport. If the localised parts of the Ecosport and Fiesta can be shared, probably an earlier arrival can be expected. I am also sure they will retain the present Figo at a lower price point.
I hope in 2014 they would get the B-Max. It is also time for a new Endeavour.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

One of my most favorite hatchbacks The best part is that the current gen Figo has very few issues: underpowered engine, cramped interiors, slightly dated looks. This one seems like it will have decent amounts of space on the inside and I like the waist line and the swooping window lines All that's left to hope for is that ford offers a good engine to go with it and I'm sure their ecoboost will make an appearance in all their cars here.
Things are really looking good for ford.

See the ORVMs carefully. Typical VW-like and look exactly similar to the units on Vento and Polo. The rear windshield (upper area) and the integrated spoiler also looks similar to the Polo. Are we receiving a Polo facelift?
I agree. Manufacturers are known to throw such red herrings onto their test mules but it looks more like a VW than a Ford. The Sloping C-pillar seems radically raked than current VW design trends though.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

I dont feel that the camouflaged car is the Figo.
It somehow looks Micra'ish to me.
A bigger glass area at the front, taller stance, creased bonnet.
However feel that they need a new figo as the current one is ast its best years.
The first photo (non camouflaged) looks the likelier model.

Seeing the side view of the face, it is definitely a Ford, with the new Fiesta's Aston Martin-like face.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

It seems that none of the car manufacturers knows the success mantra for Indian market, though many cliam to reach Nirvana with one successful model, barring MSIL which can claim to have arrived (atleast in India).

Let India be a buyer market for the time to come and let the manufacturers be on their toes with every new launch to be a hit or a miss.

I do not see this sector to be monitored by CCI in India atleast for this decade.

Agree, the side profile sure looks like a ford.
Less racier than this one though, but surely a Figo successor.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

Wow another hot hatch from Ford. I think very soon we enthusiasts will be left with multiple choices only at the Ford showroom even before considering other car manufacturers.

Looks to me like a ford Focus though. Especially the small indicator part near the headlamp.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

The Focus is quite a large hatchback and the spy shots looks more like a compact or sub compact hatchback. I would think its more of Ford's New Ka.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

I have been seeing this car for the past few days (exactly same camouflage) here in our Frankfurt test facility. Seeing the ORVMs similar to current Polo, I asked one of my fellow test engineers if it was a new VW.

He said it is a new Ford, mainly for emerging markets like Brazil and India. It will not come to Europe. It is here for ABS development. So I guess this must be the new Figo, if they retain the name. Or like they did with the Fiesta, they may retain the current Figo as a basic model and pitch this as a premium hatch.

In any case, IMHO, it will be a much better-looking car than the current plain-jane Figo. And I hope they have provided full wind-down, power windows at the rear

Although, the 1.0L EcoBoost is also available in a lower state of tune of 100BHP. Would not mind even in that lower state of tune.
I too hope Ford plonks the eco boost into this upgrage, it will definitely be fun to drive. But Iam skeptical as this may cannibalise ecosport sales, as Figo is spacious and has a boot bigger than ecosport. But such an attempt with a fiesta like steering will give good competition to Polo GT TSI.
