Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

Looks like the designers have taken cue from the i-gen i20 for the frnt end and the polo for the rear. However its a refreshing change from the outgoing model that had a dated 90's look to it.

With a Hydraulic Power Steering and the eco boost engine this would be a hoot to drive.

Those of you wishing for HPS and EcoBoost engines - bear in mind that:
a) Ford are utilizing EPS on their newer platforms. The current Figo has HPS only because of its older powertrain. What you should really hope for is that the EPS will be tuned like the 2011 Fiesta and not the EcoSport.
b) The EcoBoost engine carries (and is likely to carry even after localisation) a price premium over NA, and that will impact the car's price point. Note how the EcoSport has a 40k difference between the Titanium 1.5P and EcoBoost; this difference would be more pronounced between a NA 1.2P and EcoBoost on the new Figo.
c) In the unlikely event that Ford were to offer the EcoBoost engine, they will probably offer it in a lower state of tune at 100 hp, instead of the 123 hp one to maintain product differentiation with the EcoSport.
d) On the other hand, its worth seeing if they offer the 1.5D as a replacement for the 1.4D, as that will allow them to leverage economies of scale with the EcoSport, while retaining tax benefits. This will make sense as we can expect sales of the Fiesta Classic to dwindle, making it harder to justify economies of scale for the 1.4D.

The next generation Ford Figo, code-named the B562, is under development in Brazil, the country in which the car will be launched first. According to AutomotiveBusiness, the next-gen Ford Figo is slated to hit the production floor in Brazil during March 2014. A test mule of the hatchback has already been spotted doing the testing rounds at Cologne in Germany, the location of Ford's European Research and Development facility.

On a side note, the new Fiesta's electric power steering was calibrated at Ford Cologne for a high level of feedback as the car maker made the shift from pure-hydraulic to electric power steering units. Meanwhile, both hatchback and compact sedan versions will be spawned out of the B562 project. Notably, both the hatchback and sedan versions of the next generation Ford Figo are expected to debut simultaneously in Brazil.

In many parts of the world, the next generation Figo is expected to serve as a replacement to the Ford Ka, as the car maker's entry level offering. As is the case currently, the new Figo will sit under the Fiesta hatchback in terms of price and positioning. For the Chinese car market, the new Figo is expected to be suitably modified and launched under the Value-B project, even as Ford seeks to take the fight to the Chevrolet Sail hatchback, which is a best selling model in China.

In India, the next-generation Ford Figo will be the first product to be built at the under-construction Sanand factory. The sedan, based on the new hatchback, will replace the Classic (rebadged previous-gen Ford Fiesta) in India. The next generation Figo will be a world car, aimed at emerging markets across the globe. The 1 liter EcoBoost turbo petrol engine and the 1.5 liter TDCI turbo diesel motor are the two engines that are likely to be used on the next-gen Figo hatchback and sedan models.

As Ford's Sanand factory is expected to be ready in 2014, the new Figo could start rolling out of the facility by the end of that year. The current version of the Figo, based on the previous-gen Fiesta hatchback, has been one of the most successful models for Ford in India. Apart from selling the car's petrol and diesel variants in India, Ford exports the Figo to 38 countries across the globe. Given the Sanand factory's large capacity, Ford will be aiming to emulate the current-gen Figo's success with the new model as India is all set to become a major export hub for the American car maker in South Asia.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

IMO it will look like 4 door version of 2008 Ford KA. If that's true should we expect it to be based on Fiat 500/Panda platform and multijet on offer?

1st pick above reminds me of Micra. The rear does have resemblance to Polo!

By the way is Ford not interested in a sub 4mtr sedan to compete with the likes of Dzire, Amaze and company?

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

Hope this new car doesn't stop Ford from launching the Fiesta hatch here in India.

Why is Ford and VW making their test mules look like other? Is it a clever marketing ploy or are they just having fun?

The car spotted above will make one think its a Polo with the ORVM and the rear. And earlier, we had a Vento disguised as a Ford near Pune.

In the scoop section of the Autocar show yesterday Hormazd Sorabjee has mentioned that the Figo facelift will be unveiled at the Auto Expo 2014. The actual launch will only happen in 2015 though!

2015 Ford Figo: New details surface

Link to News Section

With a certain Alan Mulally at the helm of affairs at American car maker Ford, the automotive giant shifted to the "One Ford" global strategy that entailed similar product lines for the globalized world. With 2013 rolling into 2014, the focus is shifting onto new cars that the world will see in the coming year and beyond. One such car is the 2015 Ford Figo, which is also also the replacement for the Ford Ka entry-level hatchback that sells in developed markets. A latest report on AutoExpress reveals that the 2015 Ford Figo, code-named the B562, could be launched in the UK market early next year. An Auto Expo unveil for the Indian market is likely.

Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface-2015-ford-figo-speculative-render.jpg

India is one of the biggest markets for the Ford Figo, a rebadged and re-engineered version of the previous generation Euro-spec Fiesta hatchback. Ford India also exports the Figo to over 35 countries across the globe. Until the launch of the EcoSport, the Figo was the major seller for Ford in India and the car maker would be eager for the Figo's replacement to bring in good volumes as well. Therefore, expect Ford India to replace the Figo here late next year, as this hatchback will be the first product to roll out from the American car maker's greenfield factory at Sanand, Gujarat.

Ford's Sanand factory is scheduled to begin production next year. The 2015 Figo is said to use a modified platform of the current Figo. This move seems like one that aims to keep costs low, an important factor that enables "value-pricing". Also, the 2015 Figo is said to get lighter by employing a thinner gauge of high strength steel. The car will be sold with both turbo petrol and turbo diesel engine options. The 1 liter-3 cylinder EcoBoost turbo petrol engine and the 1.5 liter TDCI turbo diesel engine are the two motors likely to be offered in the 2015 Figo.

Five speed manual gearboxes will be standard while the petrol engined model is likely to gain an automatic gearbox. Ford is also developing a compact sedan based on the next-generation Figo. The compact sedan version of the 2015 Figo will replace the existing Classic sedan. The 2015 Figo is slated to debut in the Brazilian car market, after which it will be available in markets across the globe under various name plates. The same is likely to be the case with the Figo based compact sedan as well, which will count the Hyundai HB20 sedan as its prime rival.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

The front looks too similar to the Grand i10! It'll be interesting to see if Ford would do any cosmetic changes to the front to differentiate new Figo from the Grand i10, since the i10 is already launched worldwide.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

The figo has been a cash cow for the Ford Motor Company and will remain in the coming times provided Ford keeps on making necessary changes in its offereing with changing times so that the product competes against what is offered by its peers.

An early entry into Indian market along with other developed markets for hatchbacks will ensure stabalization of sales and production planning as it will be produced for domestic consumption as well as for international sales from its Gujarat facility.

Also, Ford India would have gained experiance from the Ecosport launch in India and the level of unrest among several buyers due to volume demand. I hope they will be better prepared if the product is good and is launched at apt price.

Cheers

Looks more like fiesta hatch from the front and Hyundai i20 from the rear. But for sure a looker imho. It's completely different from the current model.

I welcome the Aston Martin inspired grille! And the protruding rear bumper, though it could have been positioned a bit higher.

The images say "Ka Concept" but I suppose it is almost the same as the production version. Except perhaps the huge alloys. And the rear discs, the presence of which would be great on the production car.

The headlamps do not inspire confidence with the shape of the reflectors, given the woes of inadequate illumination on the (pre-facelift) Figo. I hope Ford get the illumination aspect right if they are going to go for this kind of reflector shape.

Overall, this would be a welcome addition to the market and a worthy replacement for the Figo, whose sales are contracting now. It remains to be seen how Ford will position this car - in the sub-segment of the Ritz/Grand i10 or against the Swift/i20, though this is meant to be a straight replacement for the Figo in the former.

Front reminds me of the yet to be launched Datsun Go. Rear looks familiar as well.

Re: Supposed spyshots of next gen Ford Figo surface

Next-gen Ford Figo to debut at Auto Expo!

Leaked reports indicate the next-generation Ford Figo, which will replace the current hatchback in 2015.

Quote:
Codenamed B562, this new hatchback, based on Ford’s B2E platform (which has spawned the Fiesta and EcoSport), will eventually replace the Figo when it goes on sale in the first half of 2015.
The concept’s styling showcases an Aston Martin-like front grille and new headlamp design (although the LEDs probably won’t make it to the production version), bumpers and tail-lamps which follow Ford’s family styling as seen on other models like the new Fiesta and EcoSport. There are no details yet on what engines are likely to power the next-generation Ford Figo.
