More on the Compact/ UV from Jeep,

looking at a smaller Jeep below the Renegade. We will probably position it above EcoSport. The smaller one, I would like to get it under the 4-metre regulation.

Re: Jeep B-Segment SUV: Here are more details

The sub-four meter SUV from the Jeep stable will be codenamed "515", following the Renegade's "526" and the Compass's "556", according to an ACI exclusive.

The 515 project is currently not approved, since a feasible engine is being finalised. It will also depend on how the sales are, for the Jeep brand, in the next 3-4 years.

Quote:
The company has an ambitious target of producing 47,000 Compasses in the first full year of production, of which around 25,000 will be exported to right-hand-drive markets around the world and the balance will be for domestic sales. Joining the Compass in the second half of 2019 will be the Renegade (Code: 526), a smaller SUV that will be more of a Creta rival. Powering this small SUV will be the same 1.4 Multiair and 2.0 turbo-diesel engines. In the interest of model hierarchy, it is likely that the Renegade may get the lower-powered 140hp version of the diesel engine.

The big news, however, is that Jeep is working on a sub-four-metre SUV (Code: 515) specifically for India, although this compact SUV would also find a market in Brazil and Russia. Jeep hasn’t yet given it the green light as the cost targets are proving to be a huge challenge. A big issue is sourcing a suitable diesel motor, which would have to be under 1.5 litres to avail of the ‘small car’ tax benefits. Fiat’s ubiquitous 1.3 Multijet would be underpowered and, besides, it is likely to be phased out once BS-VI emission norms kick in. A better option is Fiat’s ‘Family B’ engine with capacities ranging from 1.6 to 2.0 litres. This motor powers the Compass and the big advantage is that it will be locally produced as well. It’s possible to downsize a 1.6 Family B motor to 1.5 litres but the 515’s volumes won’t justify the engineering costs. Fiat is still working on ways and means to make the 515 feasible, which, according to company sources, is likely to become a reality if Jeep’s volumes pick up seriously in India.

That’s good news, I am eagerly waiting for Renegade to launch here, fits my requirement perfectly, a budget small SUV, solid build which will be even better than my Punto, much better fit and finish, butch looks, car like handling yet can manage moderate off-roading and to top it all 2L multijet (as confirmed by this report).
Earlier impression was that Jeep has not finalized Renegade launch, they wanted to watch out the market response of Compass.

On the sub 4 meter SUV engine options, they can explore Suzuki's newly developed 1.5L diesel.

Missed the part about Renegade being the Creta rival for 2019 launch?

Is this the project '526' the A segment Jeep for India? Will it be a re-badged/engineered FIAT PANDA?

But for all that, and despite the problems posed by the ZF 9-speed automatic, Jeep went on to sell plenty of Renegade vehicles in literally all corners of the world.
A rolling success for the sport utility vehicle manufacturer, the increasingly popular Renegade could welcome an even smaller brother in the coming years
Quote:
No name, no debut date, no technical information, absolutely nothing else is known about the alleged A-segment Jeep. But if the rumor will be proven right, what should we look forward from the smallest Jeep of the modern era ?
Quote:
the Fiat Panda 4x4 is going to be badge-engineered.

The Panda 4x4 would be one of the possible starting points for the unconfirmed and unnamed Jeep model, chiefly because it slots in the A-segment, it has all-wheel-drive, and the underpinnings are cheap enough to allow the American automaker to develop a mostly inexpensive SUV for markets where small vehicles are popular.

Not a bad place to start! The Panda 4*4 has good praise for its capabilities abroad.

If they get it anywhere close to these abilities, the upcoming Suzuki Jimny will have an interesting practical rival.

No please...No...Seen hundreds of these Pandas up close and personal over the last 2 years. And saying "it is an U-G-L-Y car" is an understatement.

Please don't do that to the JEEP brand which has a really good status so far in India. Don't take it to dogs please...

What makes you think two cars sharing a platform should like alike?

Here are previous two siblings - the ugly curvish 500X and the boxy Jeep Renegade, both don't have any similarities when it comes to looks.

Both 500X and Renegade - Driven.
(And I like the X-Ambassadors song RENEGADES that they used for TV commercials of the Jeep Renegade more than I liked the car itself .)

But I was responding to Volkman10's post. That post says "re-badged / re-engineered PANDA.
I don't want to wear dark glasses on road all the time to minimize damage to my eyes every time I see one.

Good news, but just wondering what engine options they have to avail sub four meter tax benefits.

Also does this mean the current Renegade with 1.6/2.0 ltr engines will not make it to India?

Re: Jeep B-Segment SUV: Here are more details

FCA could be close to decision on 'baby' Jeep for global markets.

Quote:
Jeep is looking "very closely" at a possible vehicle smaller than its Renegade subcompact crossover.

The "baby" Jeep would be targeted at customers in Europe and other global markets where small vehicles sell well but not the U.S.

If built, the small Jeep would be based on FCA’s Mini platform, which underpins the Fiat Panda and 500 minicars, as well as the Lancia Ypsilon
A decision on the project could come in June, when FCA will present the 2018-2022 plan.

(The Fiat Panda Cross, shown, could provide a template for a baby Jeep)

Re: Jeep B-Segment SUV: Here are more details

Motor1 / OmniAuto have made a rendering of the Jeep's Panda based SUV.

No confirmations, all speculations, they say.

The rendering appears to have a Compass face on the Renegade.

Re: Jeep B-Segment SUV: Here are more details

Jeep is expected to announce sub-Renegade Mini SUV in June.

Quote:
that’s the month when Jeep will present its new five-year plan, which will likely include the petite SUV set to boast the off-road credentials
Quote:
Likely to be based on the same platform as the Fiat 500 and Panda, the yet-unnamed Jeep is slated to be built in Europe as a nearly global model, but has very little chances of being sold in the United States.
