June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

NOTES:

1: Only cars that sell 500+ units (and thus, the relevant ones) have been included in the gainers & losers chart.

2: Negative numbers seen for Chevrolet Tavera, Sail Sedan & Sail U-VA are a result of the recall.

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Sales of Duster seems to be continuously declining. Would be interesting to see July numbers for duster as well as the EcoSport. Shocking to see the steep decline in XUV and Figo sales. Overall not a happy story.

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Thank you for the much awaited details.

So, after hyping up the EcoBoost engine over all these months, Ford has very conservatively manufactured only 573 petrols!

Just as the Fortuner and XUV500 dominate their respective segments, would we see something similar occurring with the EcoSport? Time will tell.

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Downward trend continues. Sigh!!
Any predictions for month of July ?

I am a bit surprised to see that Amaze which sold 6K in may sold only 4.9K this month. What could be the reason for this ?

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Vento jumping up by 17% on MoM%, perhaps we will see more action in july month becasue of 0% offer and now the 3yr warranty/amc/insurance offer. While Rapid is the only model keeping Skoda flag fluttering.

Surprised to see City numbers dropped a little, i guess overall industry slowdown effect.

Regarding the 4000 odd Hyundai Santros making it ot the charts month on month.. I think those are those exported ones..

If anyone can confirm that it would be nice.. As I am not observing much new santros sold at hyundai dealerships..

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Suppose the car industry is now tanking, sales are actually declining. Hope the Ford Ecosports brings in some much needed momentum to the industry. Swift Dzire notched up an interesting figure last month but this month it seems to be Business As Usual. Probably that was a ploy by Maruti to rob the initial foot fall from the Honda Showrooms. But to be quite frank Honda Amaze seems to be quite content at the 4K mark.
It will get interesting once their Rajasthan plant comes into full swing. Anybody knows when it will be fully functional?

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Thanks for this, very insightful.

Am i right in assuming this is only 5 days of data for Ecosport? Since it launched on the 26th? Or are pre-launch booking numbers included? Not sure what the shift there would be, i guess most would have booked post launch?

Re: June 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

For Santros, I think santro sales are driven by Mumbai Cabs. I see brand new shining santros (with plastic wrapped new seats) painted Black and Yellow in Mumbai.
