same in this months autocar also

Well Nissan K-car the MOCO is based on a Suzuki platform and is also built by Suzuki, so they probably want to extend the co-operation to India.

Not sure which Nissan is a 1.3 liter 3 cylinder?

Closest I can think of is a Micra.

if you want to see how Nissan is selling a 10 lakh car worldwide for 22 lakhs in India and calling it a bargain and a potential boost for their sales, then read on....

Nissan Motor set up an office in India last April, since then the company has sold around 180 units of X-trail, its SUV, and its variant, the Elegance.

And now it is hitting the market with another X trail variant, this one is called the X-pecial priced at almost Rs22 lakh for the SUV, which has been tweaked cosmetically. Nissan hopes this launch will help it double its sales to 300 units this year.

"While, we are trying to study which model will fit into which segment, at the end of the day for us to be successful, we have to be a presence across the segments," says Neeraj Garg, director marketing and sales at Nissan Motor India.

With India emerging as one of the hottest auto markets, Nissan is hoping to make up for the lost time. According to CNBC-TV18 the company will pump in at least Rs3,000 to Rs4,000 crore to kick start its manufacturing operations in India. Nissan says studies are on to zero in on the right model from their existing 180 model portfolio for the Indian market.

"Small cars March, Mogo, Tita, Tiana and Infiniti are the major models. Otherwise Nissan has around 180 models globally. From 600cc to 5,000cc," said Garg.

The Nissan-Suzuki pact, signed earlier this year, will also help Nissan get a stronghold in India and maybe even catapult India to an export hub for small cars.

But the Micra is a 1.6 11OPS petrol engine.

Good deal about is that it comes with 16" alloys curtain side airbags. These details were from http://www.nissan.co.uk/uk/newmicra/launch/home.html

Looks as if its a off shoot design of Matiz and Swift.

This is the latest cars as per the above URL, however the Micra 1.3 seems like its a very old car which was launched 10 years back in other countries.

The future is bright, Nissan is planning to bring options across all the ranges according to their India country manager. In small car they are collaborating with Maruti and in the 10-14 lakh and SUV options they are planning to go it alone.

So are they planning on 2 plants in India ?? I really hope they manage to set up a CKD plant for the bigger cars.

I heard that their next car in India wud be the Nissan Cefiro. its great lookin and all that, but they planning to price it around 22-23lks! thats high for it, good if its in the range of Accord-Laura.

Reported in Sify.com that Maruti would be making 50,000 vehicles for Nissan as part of their manufacturing facilities sharing arrangement. No mention of what models or of the timeline.

Nissan mulling investments in India

New Delhi, Sept 7. (PTI): Japan's Nissan Motors is close to finalising its plans for India, which could see the company commit investments to the tune of around Rs 2,000 crore for having a presence across product segments.

"The company is in the process of working out plans for India and these will be shortly finalised," industry sources said.

The company, which sells the imported SUV 'X-Trail' in India, is looking at an aggressive entry into the market. "We will be pretty aggressive on India. As far as vehicles are concerned, we are looking at a possibly wider range of products," they said.

The company is not in favour of confining to the high-end market, considering the growth rates and the potential in India. "Nissan wants to be present across model segments in India," the sources said.

Nissan, which in June this year announced an international manufacturing collaboration with Suzuki that would see Maruti producing vehicles for the company, is expected to go in for an all-new set-up under its proposed plan.

"Nissan is looking at something separate, an all set-up. However, there are still various possibilities," they said.

Asked whether the company could also enter the small car segment, the sources said, "It is certainly looking at that. Nissan takes it as a challenge and is conducting a lot of studies for this."

Nissan had entered the Indian auto market with the launch of the X-TRAIL, which it sells through dealer outlets in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad.
