Chevrolet has released an official teaser image of the 2016 Spark/Beat hatchback. The teaser image draws focus to new design characteristics like the new headlamps, body creases, front bumper, air dam and fog lamps. Chevrolet has also confirmed that the car will make its public debut in at the Seoul and New York motor shows on 2nd April. The teaser image does illustrate a few updates, but the car has already been spied completely undisguised.

Looks:
This more or less looks in-line with the current market trends. The older Beat had a unique style quotient which is now gone in this new one.
Front Styling cues taken from Hyundai. Rear looks like a wider Alto 800 !!

Power:
- Good to see the upgrade to 1.4 with 98 horses. Makes an entry as a hot hatch.

Features:
- Fancy features are welcome !

The Sad Part - Will never make it to India. If at all makes, it would be as a new product line and not an upgraded Beat. :Frustrati

That front end looks like a clone of the Grand i10!

It’s a big world for small cars and Chevrolet isn’t one to stick to big SUVs and pick-up trucks. After multiple spy shots revealing key details, the North American car maker has just revealed the all new Chevrolet Spark a.k.a the Beat. The hatchback features a familiar body shell, but opts for sleeker design. The new car has its height lowered by around 40 mm, while the wheelbase gets a slight increase as well.

Looks like a 4 door to me. The rear door handle is at the same place as the current Beat.
I like the overall design more than the present version.

I don't think India is going to get the 1.4 petrol. Increased excise duty will kill its competitive advantage in an already price sensitive market unless they plan to position it as a premium hot hatch. But then it would be better to launch as a new product instead of a "hot" version of a regular commuter hatch.
One of the main reasons for the cold response to the Beat was the love-it-hate-it styling. Too polarized I think. A new slightly subtler version might work well. But then again, the Sail was just that but it bombed.

"The car also gets a rollover sensing and protection system and 10 standard airbags"

10 in binary (two) or is it really ten?

I have a feeling that this is a little late April Fools' announcement :p

As per the official release: "Ten standard air bags include driver/front passenger knee air bags, roof rail side air bags and seat-mounted thorax/pelvic air bags."

Good Part: Car looks wider and longer and promises to have better interior space than its predecessor.

Bad Part: Has lost its style identity, which was it's USP in the market. I doubt it will sell as much as the earlier one did, when launched.

Even the current Beat (Spark in the US) receives 10 airbags.

Chevrolet Spark - US

Chevrolet Spark makes its global debut in the 2015 New York Auto Show.

According to this:
Quote:

The 2016 Spark is powered by a new three-cylinder 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 90bhp or 110bhp of power. This mill comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The car looks mature. Current cars styling is not to everyone's taste. This one looks more neutral. Although it looks as big as Grand i10, I doubt it will be packaged the same way.
