Hey Parrys, Thanks a lot for such a prompt report.

Tata still not looking good, while Maruti ruling the roost. Looks like Maruti has snatched some market share from Hyundai this time.

Worrying news for Tata. Honda has passed it, and Ford may catch up. VW group also has a lot to worry about - a lot hinges on the new Octavia.

While Ecosport's blockbuster start is good for Ford, its other star, Figo is constantly dipping below 3000 mark. The facelift doesnt seem to have done much. Liva and Brio seem to be eating into Figo's share.

Re: July 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Not even a single Diesel car sold for the Sail hatch and Sedan ?

Sunny sells equal number of cars in Petrol and Diesel both as does the Toyota Altis and the Hyundai i20 !

The Micra sells twice the number of cars in Petrol than Diesel !

Re: July 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Thanks Parrys for this eagerly awaited report.

Sad to see our home grown Tata slipping to 6th position.
Only a complete overhaul within the organisation with entirely new product line can give them some hope of revival.

Happy to see Fiat Punto doing above 500 nos third month in a row.
On the other hand surprised to see only 35 T-Jets sold in July (assuming all petrol Lineas are T-Jets).
It deserves much better nos.

All manufacturers, except Honda because of Ameze and Ford for Ecosport, have reported lower numbers verses last month.

Overall Indian auto scene is passing through a real bad phase with little hope for any turnaround in near future.

Surprising that the XUV's figure has substantially gone up from the previous month's ..

Thanks for the report. But I am missing GTO's write-up which makes this even more exciting.

Good to see that Ecosport is experiencing a good market inception. XUV5OO sales are dipping and so is with Duster. It will be exciting to see what MSIL's reply will look like.

Re: July 2013 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Ford Figo missed out being in top 20 by a single car. 2680 for Etios vs 2679 of Ford Figo.
Figo deserved better being JD Power selection as most VFM in premium hatch segment. Danger of new found enthusiasm of Ford in Echosport should not lead to neglect of its bread and butter brand- Figo.
Time to Focus on Figo too by improving mileage of diesel engine, service camps for Figo owners and further reduction of spare part price

That's because both cars (Sail Diesel Twins) have been pulled off dealership yards. Recall likely.

Sweet work Parrys.

Cheers,

Jay

Sad situation at Tata. BTW need quick interpretation for a buyer of Storme:

1. Does the sale of Storme going down can result in new and completely revised version soon?
2. Can this sad situation be used for demanding more discounts?
3. What will be the future for the car and the owners, if it continue to go down on sale chart?
