Ideally the horn button should be hidden away in a secret location that requires a password to unlock, and should then be configured to deliver an electric shock for every third honk.

And it should be an optional extra for about 50k.

We drive in a less than ideal world where those crossing roads wouldn't look in both the directions, cabbies and bikers break lanes at will and fellow car drivers use signal stoppage to show their tetrix skills. Thus, my point.

I am sure there are several other reasons for why we SHOULD use our horns.

All the more reason to make horns unusable as far as possible. +1 to Maruti for their effort in this direction, all other manufacturers please learn from this public service initiative.

Are they naming it as Verondtiga ? for me it looks like a copy and paste with verna, honda city and ertiga.

Maruti should start with other engine options too A 1.6 liters for this car would be ideal i believe

Interesting! The car is certainly a looker and seems to have taken the best of every cars strength (Space like Sunny, looks like Verna, headlamps like E, Interiors like Vento) coupled with the fact that its going to be build on the its national chassis (Swift/Ertiga/Dzire - this ) and Maruti service reliability.
What a killer combination!

I see many people speculating about the 1.3 D engine but i wonder if its good enough for the Ertiga (the mini MUV) it must then be sufficient for this too. Besides, the fuel efficiency and easy to produce would also be factored in.

Could this be the compact SUV killer? Nhaa, probably Vento & Verna would be soon RIP!

Looks very promising. Looks doesnt offend any, and a Maruti product will surely attract the masses.

Strong 3 series (E90) resemblance in the way the crease runs across the doors in the profile

Looks very promising and have high expectations from the car.
An ideal retirement gift for my Dad one and half year down the line who as of now just loves his Swift Dzire.

As a end user, why would you care if they are being original or not?!
The end result seems quite tasteful! The market is yearning for a decent C/C+ segment car from the MSIL segment and the large majority didnt feel it was SX4 (no offence to owners). MSIL has tasted blood with Dzire and they seem all set to rule this segment as well!
The 1.6 MJD would be the icing on the cake
Good one, Maruti! Bring it on!!

Looks like a Suzuki steering wheel was put into a Vento facelift :P Very German/European looking.

Full chrome front even on the 'L' variant?!

Maruti has yet another model that's going to be a sure shot winner if priced like a Maruti. All the best to them.

So, beige is not going to be replaced in any of its cars in near future then.

Lil birdie confirms the start of production of the gasoline version in Jun 14 and full fledged launch in July. It will replace the SX4.

How come both you and Anshuman know Lil birdie?

Seems like the car is production-ready. Then why such a delay in launch? Will be launched in overseas markets first and then only coming to India? Is it the same car as the one show-cased as 'Authentics' in China?

The lil birdies are different. While it looks ready, it is undergoing testing in Japan. I guess Maruti is missing an opportunity by delaying the launch. Jan feb next year would have been ideal launch time.

Maybe we are talking about different birdies here. Anyways one little birdie of mine stated that there is an 'SUV' being launched in two months from now. Neither of us have an idea what that is

Same question here. Why such a long delay? Given maruti has become aggressive, I expect the launch to be nearer.

I agree but with players like the Rapid, Verna and the Vento in the space they cannot afford to be just adequately powered. The Linea is nowhere in the picture with the same engine. Anyway let us see how the market receives it.

Drive on,
Shibu.
