So guys the latest from the rumour mill is that Maruti is gearing up for a July release of YL1/Ciaz, reported by both ibntimes and motorbeam.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

^^ That's a great news. Maruti should launch this car as early as possible as Honda & Hyundai are getting away with huge business in this segment. I am sure margins are also better in this segment compared to hatch. Ciaz looks to have great potential in Indian market. Need to see how they are launching this car, i mean specs, prize etc. Hope MUL will launch it with very attractive price tag.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

The CIAZ will sell like hot cakes, irrespective of the Engine that powers it. However, the 1.3 Engine will be a massive disappointment. Looking at the engines in the segment, the Vento/ Rapid twins have a stonker of an engine beneath them. Verna is the most refined of the lot and powerful (though the boat like handling renders it useless). Honda City is not exciting, only if it had a variable geometry turbo and a different state of tune! But look at the monthly numbers, the City is leaps and bounds ahead with the sales of the Vento/Rapid twins dwindling. And very much in similar fashion, the Ciaz will be launched with a heavily under powered engine and still sell a lot! Only if they launched the 1.6 MJD, but why would they - since sales numbers will never be an issue?

Maruti Ciaz production version patented in China.

The rear-end seems to be too resembling to the New Honda City and I hope it will it create a problem for Maruti for design copying.

True though it is the other way around. No clue when patents were filed/approved, but Suzuki's Authentics concept was the first to feature that rear-end styling and so were the YL1 prototypes featured in the first few pages of this thread.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

Spotted the YL1 today.

Observations :
1. Good acceleration, was reaching and holding up @ 140 + kph with ease.
2. No black smoke observed, but acceleration makes me assume it was a diesel.
3. Don't think it was running on the national diesel, 1.3 MJD. (Assuming again, from the acceleration)
4. Its big as SX4. (Nice multi spoke wheels)

Would be really nice to be surprised by a launch featuring the 1.6 MJD and good old creamy M16A or J20B petrol motor Highly unlikely though hahaha

And this looks exactly the same as the Scoop Car on Page 1 When i saw the new Honda City at the global unveil in New Delhi few months back, i found the rear end strikingly similar to YL1.

Looks like having a longer wheelbase than the SX4. If they introduce this with a 2L petrol, AT gearbox & full raft of safety features (ABS, EBD, ESP, & 6 airbags) it will give the Elantras and Corollas a run for their money.

I have received this image in an email from maruti suzuki. Does this mean that YL1/Ciaz is about to be launched in India very soon?

Lets hope that this rekindles the soul of the Kizashi at a lower pricepoint. But then the brilliant Kizashi motor is being wasted bigtime.

Yes it does mean that that YL1/Ciaz is getting ready to be launched soon.

Nice picture though to keep the suspense building up by Maruti. Hope they price it right and introduce it with the right set of motors.

Maruti if your reading - Get rid of that 1.3L DDiS engine if your planning to use it in this car. That engine is best for your hatches and not a sedan. Come On and get the 1.6 MJD for the YL1/Ciaz.

re: Team-BHP SCOOP: Maruti Ciaz / YL1. Scoop Pics on Page 99

@a4anurag, greetings of the day!

1. Slightly off-track, have there been any inputs regarding the 7-seater-Innova-competitor expected from MSIL?

2. With the MUV segment all heated up, with the impending launch of Honda Mobilio, can MSIL be expected to launch the true 7 seater sooner than later?

Regards!
