Rumour: Is Hyundai stopping i10 1.1L production?

Is any one aware of whether Hyundai is stopping production of the 1.1 versions of i10 (dlite, era and Magna)? I booked a 1.1 era a couple of days back and was informed by the dealer today that Hyundai has stopped production of the 1.1 versions and hence was asking me to change my booking to 1.2 Magna.

Was wondering if this is a ploy by the dealer to push a higher variant or whether Hyundai has really taken this decision.

Thanks

Shocked. I was thinking Hyundai will bank on the 1.1 now, since 1.2 pricing leaves little gap for Hyundai to slot in the upcoming Grand i10.

Or they are planning to stop production of the engine. Rumours also suggests Santro might be phased out, so an additional engine makes not much sense.

re: Rumour: Is Hyundai stopping i10 1.1L production?

1.1 is also sold with the LPG option with a blue drive branding. It seems highly unlikely that Hyundai will drop 1.1l since they clearly cater to a segment of customers looking for frugality and lower price point but who want to buy a i10 and not a Santro.

That said stopping Santro would be a huge waste of its immensely popular brand equity built over years as a very able and a practical car. How many cars can sell an average of 3-4k cars month on month?

On this issue the dealer must just be pushing the Kappa. Try another dealer in town.

Read somewhere that Hyundai is planning a 1L (998CC 3-cyl) Petrol model for Eon. Then they may be stopping the 1.1L engine and so the Santro too. So, Hyundai's future lineup may be as follows, IMO:

Eon 800
Eon 1L
i10 1L
i10 1.2L
i10 Grand 1.2L
i20 1.2L

Unless Hyundai plans to make the "kappa2" engine as standard across all variants of the current i10, they will not stop production of the 1.1 irde engine.

Why would Hyundai stop Santro which is selling in decent numbers?

Kappa engine cant withstand the rough cng fuel and hyundai knows this so lets not speculate 1.1 being discontinued

Its just dealers false pretence
