Rear resembles Fortunner and front resembles Camry. Overall nothing great for already a good looking car.

IMO, no update was required for Innova I guess as it was done recently with the front grills and HLs changed. What is required is a slightly better power output.

Agree with Scorcher that it's getting uglier. It's too blingy and looks like a local shoddy modifier's job. They should make it look better in front to make it look less like a van and at the rear the vertical lights must be made wider if more horizontal - ala DC restyle.

Another RIP OFF, a few outer changes. Add a few stickers, and its even a new edition. Damn when will they ever do a major new design inside, outside and an upgrade to suspension and engine.

Ah! Maybe new floor matts & LED light & they will call it the 2014 edition.

re: 2014 Toyota Innova Facelift - Now Launched!

When they brought in the current facelift in 2012 Toyota said they were trying to make the innova look as car like as possible. Now it seems they have done a total U turn and are trying to make it look like an SUV.

The result... Ugly.

Hideous ! Why would you convert a family van that looks non offensive and works well into a cheap Chinese clone. The sad part , they ll launch it at a higher price and call it all new .

While the rear is acceptable, front is simply hideous. Innova looked decent anyways, why this unnecessary facelift?

It became necessary because of the following reasons in my opinion

1. It is not able to sustain it's previous best (6500-7000 odd).
2. The festive season is round the corner and Toyota wants to improve sales.
3. An All New Innova is still 2+ years away. Hence only a facelift.

I am more interested in knowing the safety and equipment level of the facelift than it's looks. Any insider here at Team-BHP who can shed some light on that?

re: 2014 Toyota Innova Facelift - Now Launched!

Toyota sold the Qualis for a good 5 years (2000-05) with 1 or 2 facelifts thrown in. As for Innova, its been here almost double that - 10 long years! Isn't it time for an all new version? Rather than a mere facelift.

The second gen was the best looking Innova IMO. Let's wait to see what this facelift is all about and whether it is just a skin deep change.

Toyota firmly believes in finite lifecycle of their products.

As a rule of thumb, in more mature and demanding markets like USA, Japan and Western Europe it is 5 (+/-1) years (where an all new model is introduced).

Whereas in less mature market like ours it is usually 10 (+/-1) years where an all new model is introduced.

The exception was Qualis where they introduced an obsolete product just to test what kind of a market is India. And the worst fears were confirmed that ours is a pathetically immature market and crude products do sell.

Mind you the market has evolved much faster than Toyota would have anticipated hence the (perceived) delay in launching newer models.

By the above observations we can expect an all new Innova (or it's replacement) sometime in late 2015 or early 2016.

Only Toyota has the guts to replace their best selling models like it did with Qualis in 2005. Compare this to Hyundai's approach with Santro.

Until then expect only facelifts.

Hope it clears the air.

Thanks for your patience.

re: 2014 Toyota Innova Facelift - Now Launched!

Hii all, Toyota innova in its foremost outing was the best looking. As per built, comfort and ride quality the 1st model of innova was best. Then came 2nd one i.e the present face-lifted innova which is sheepish looking front and has less structural strength as compared to the 1st one. And now the 3rd which is totally unneedful. The front is a disaster and the rear styling is picked from other foreign MPVs which had these sort of lights on/near license plates in the late 90's.

second and third gen (current) models of the innova look the best. This upcoming one is just plain hideous.

This model will not sustain more...the old one is much better and simple than this.

Is the engine redefined?

Do what may by Toyota and what ever we say.. The Innova will sell.

Engine redefined! They will not even open the hood but just add chrome, LED Lamps (May be DRL's too) and call it some 'Refreshed version'

They would call it an 'All New Innova' rather than refreshed.
Then after a year or so, some barebasic version with funky stickers and bucketloads of chrome without any wheelcovers would be their 'Limited Edition'. Imagine how ugly that would be!

All those who have decided to buy an innova, This is the right time to buy the existing one. Secure your car before this one comes!!
