Land Rover India slips in Freelander 2 S Business Edition Link to News Section
Land Rover India has quietly slipped in a new variant to the facelifted Freelander 2 SUV range, in the form of the lower priced S Business Edition model. The SUV is priced at 37.11 lakh rupees, ex-showroom Delhi, which is about two lakh rupees cheaper than the mid SE variant. The Freelander sold in India is now available in three variants: S, SE and HSE.
The facelifted version of the Freelander 2 was launched earlier this year with prices at 39.19 lakh rupees and 44.42 lakh rupees for the SE and HSE variants respectively. (Aforementioned prices reflect ex-showroom Delhi figures) The S variant loses three features to make for the lower price tag. - Panoramic Sunroof
- Reverse Camera
- Meridian Music System
- Electrically adjustable front seats
- Premium Paint Finish (solid and metallic paint finishes are available on S variant)
While the SUV is available with a 2.2 liter turbo diesel engine in two outputs: 148 Bhp-420 Nm and 188 Bhp-420 Nm, the S variant uses the engine with the lower power output. Other mechanical details such as the 6 speed automatic transmission and the Terrain Response four wheel drive system remain unchanged on the S Business Edition version.
The SUV is assembled at Jaguar-Land Rover's assembly facility at Chikli, off Pune. This facility was earlier used by the Mercedes Benz-Tata Motors car making partnership. The Freelander 2 is the only SUV in the Land Rover range to be assembled in India. Plans are afoot to CKD assemble the Defender and the Evoque in India.
