We as members of Team BHP must unite to send a strong message to auto manufacturers and their counterparts/service providers (like Hover Automotive India in this case) regarding their quality of service. Nissan exports 80% of the cars manufactured (mostly to UK) in India. Strategically India gets 3rd class treatment.

We must unite and unanimously send a strong message to Nissan by not endorsing their products. As Team BHP members we have that power. Let Nissan wake up, let Nissan make a change to truly compete with Maruti, Honda, Toyota. Let Nissan realize that they can't operate in India this way. We the people of India are responsible to bring about a change in the market place - to demand the best from the vendors, manufacturers, service providers. If you endorse low quality of service you are not only accepting that, you're also sending a message to the service provider saying "yeh chalega" (this is ok). And that could become the gold standard.

Would take your post with a bit of salt. Look at the positive side of Nissan, they have opened shop here which means they are giving employment to many Indians. They are paying taxes to our Government.
If you feel their products are inferior then please avoid buying it as nissan would still continue to use their plants for exporting cars to UK/Europe. If you are an existing customer and facing hardships with your regular services please take them to our courts for further action.

I found this bit particularly hilarious

On the sidelines of the launching a refreshed Evalia, Kenichiro Yomura, president, Nissan India Operations, said, "Its a little difficult to achieve that target of 1,00,000 units."

So you sell 12000 cars in 6 months, and then call selling 88000 more in the next six months "A little difficult..??" What did they hire for a president.. An ostrich?

Perhaps we should conduct a survey. If you had 8 lakhs of hard earned money (or take loan and pay off by hard earned money) to spend on a car:

Would you buy a good car that is serviced by out sourced servicing companies who are generally known to offer poor service and generally known to charge a premium for spare parts and generally known to not make the spare parts widely available. This company provides employment to Indians and pays taxes to Indian government. This company also exports most of the cars made in their factory located in India.

OR

Would you buy a good car that is serviced by a company known to offer fairly good after sales service, with affordable and widely available parts at a reasonable cost. This company provides employment to Indians and pays taxes to Indian government.


Note: I am generalizing the poor A.S.S of Nissan service based on feedback from my personal experience and existing owners of Nissan cars on several public forums.

There was a time when Hyundai struggled to make a mark in the US Automobile market. They had major quality issues in their cars. They had a major problem selling their cars (even with 7 years warranty). People were not buying Hyundais and rightly so. They never cared about how much tax Hyundai was paying to the US government.

This has more to do with their culture rather than their choice of words. They find it very difficult to say impossible or no; hence they use this phrase 'a little difficult' or 'xxx-san, it is difficult'. For them to say no, is akin to impolite-ness.
You will find this habit common when dealing with most japanese companies. As a race, they do not trust others readily; once they do, they will support you like no one else.

Herd mentality again, instead of innovating or creating a niche, they are simply jumping on the band wagon, not realizing that by the time this car comes out, people will have moved on to something else.

When it was just the Dzire, it was clearly winning, it was a niche discovered and Maruti laughed all the way to the bank. Then came Amaze and again being only the second player and leveraging the Honda name, they too enjoyed good sales.

Now there is the Hyundai Xcent, Figo Sedan, Tata Zest and God knows how many more. Even Skoda plans to get in, Customer Service be damned, we want many new cars in India. What is the friggin point?

Maruti with the Dzire, Renault with the Duster, Mahindra with the XUV, Toyota with the Innova those are examples manufacturers should try to emulate.

There is only decent MUV in India today, the Innova and OK maybe the Ertiga as well. No body till now was focused on this, now wait after the Mobilio launch, we will have everyone selling MUV's in India.

Sometimes I wonder who is in charge of these multi billion dollar corporations. Not a single pro active thinker.

Mumbai, February 14, 2014: Nissan announced today that its Indian subsidiary – Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) – has assumed full responsibility for the sales, marketing and distribution of all Nissan-branded vehicles and parts in India, with immediate effect from February 14, 2014. Nissan stated that its agreement with Hover Automotive India Pvt. Ltd. for exclusive sales, marketing and distribution of Nissan branded vehicles and parts in India has been terminated.

Further details about the business structure will be announced in due course.

Kenichiro Yomura, Nissan President, India Operations, said: “Nissan is now at a point of maturity in India where the time is right to establish our own marketing and distribution operations. Nissan’s priority will be to ensure a smooth transition from current operations. We remain committed to our customers and will continue to deliver high quality products and services.”

I wonder, with all these zillions of new "Cut Short" sedans, MPV's, People Movers and People Carriers and all the rest of it, what will be the Scenario on Indian Roads, ten years from now?

Will there be gridlocks as far as the eye can see?
Will there be an increasing tribe of bicyclists buzzing about and weaving between the gridlocked cars?
Will there be a sea change in people's lifestyles with more "work from home" and/ or "walk to work" scenarios?

Wow, what better way for Nissan to celebrate valentine's day than to throw away a tight pair of shoes that hurts.

This definitely shows some commitment. Now the only thing remains is to bring new cars to niche segments in the market; for eg, an Active or even a Go diesel, a 4x4 Terrano, the Qashqai or maybe the lovable Juke. I sincerely wish a bright new innings to Nissan Motor India Private Ltd.

This is a good development for all the Nissan-branded car owners because things should improve from here on. It is also indicative of the long term commitment on part of Nissan. Hopefully, they can add a few dealers in Delhi since they are down to 3 dealerships in Delhi.

Most of the CXOs in NMIPL and RNAIPL were up in arms against the Hover agreement since early last year. The same issue was raised with Mr. Ghosn during his visit to India last year. The service quality must improve fro now on.
