Re: New Ford Fiesta to be facelifted in 2014?

Ford India has updated the website to reflect the upcoming 2014 Fiesta. Launch seems to be around the corner then? There seems to be a mention of only the 1.5L TDCi engine in there though.

Looks like the alloy wheel design in the production model has changed from what was showcased in the Auto Expo this year. The new design looks much better!

It's seems quite baffling that there is no petrol version. Wonder if they are going to spring a surprise and bring in the ecoboost with the fiesta. An ecoboost with dct would be the icing on the cake

Re: New Ford Fiesta to be facelifted in 2014?

I had taken a test drive of the figo and classic 4 months back at Elite ford and the SA had called me yesterday to followup! (I still haven't decided on my next car and they followup with me atleast once a month since the test drive! )
I asked him about the new fiesta launch and he told me it will not be launched anytime before July!

I think they are already facing a supply crunch of the imported ecoboost engine for the ecosport as the ecoboost variant has the longest wait time.
Still hoping they would localize it's production and launch it atleast sometime in the near future!

Re: New Ford Fiesta to be facelifted in 2014?

Really surprising to note that there is no Petrol on offer, Especially now that the difference in petrol and diesel cost isn't that huge.
Also did not already have a 1.5 petrol on offer in India? Why would they discontinue it?

Only other reason I can think of is that they simply will not be able to meet any kind of demand for the petrol fiesta without impacting the already long wait times for the ecosport. But they cannot be without an offering in the c segment for long. Hence the compromise by bringing in only the diesel. Hope I am proven wrong and we see an ecoboost fiesta.

Re: New Ford Fiesta to be facelifted in 2014?

There could be the 1l EcoBoost Petrol on offer in Fiesta, only if they price it sensibly, keeping in mind past exprience. But, if feel it could be a dream, because the EcoBoost engine is imported (as far as I know).

Phasing out the petrol is not a bad thing at all, it wasn't great shakes in Petrol engine terms at all, after the scorching 1.6 from the erstwhile Fiesta (now classic). I, for one, would prefer them bring back the 1.6 duratec and spare me both the 1.5 and the 1.0 ecoboost hoopla.

Couldn't agree more. Bringing in a 1.0 Ecoboost will mean a over-priced Fiesta and possibly meeting the same fate as the erstwhile one a couple of years back. I'd take the 1.6 Duratec anyday with improved power and torque figures. I still drive the 1.6 S and having driven the 1.5 petrol, I can tell that the 1.5 is not a patch on the 1.6 Duratec engine.

Re: New Ford Fiesta to be facelifted in 2014?

Am I seeing two reversing lights in the new model? If yes, then I believe Ford has been taking customer feedback into account. We don't want the single light rear which salesmen try to call a European feature. Alas, all manufacturers are falling prey to this 'feature', such as the VW cars, new i20, etc.

I hope they've improved the rear trim as well as the folding armrest. There were too many flaws in the 2011 Fiesta, which put off potential customers big time.

IMO they should concentrate more on pricing the car sensibly rather than being too optimistic of sales despite high prices.
Moreover, they should ensure that interior colour combination is premium & not workman like.

Re: New Ford Fiesta to be facelifted in 2014?

Hmm. Dropping the petrol is not a very bad idea, methinks. I don't think they've sold many pre-facelift petrol Fiestas in the first place. And the market particularly dislikes Ford petrols. Yes, the Fiesta 1.6 was a great drive, but used ones sell for really sad prices. The 1.0 Eco-boost probably wouldn't make economic sense for Ford - or the handful of buyers.
And also I drove a pre-facelift diesel Fiesta a couple of years ago and thought it was quite good. Just like the old 1.4, the 1.5's real world performance is much better than what the stats might suggest. It's also more refined than the VW 1.6. A better turbo and more BHP would not hurt, though.

Edit: One area they definitely need to improve is the plastics. I thought my Linea had the worst plastics in the segment. Only when I sat in the Fiesta did I get some consolation.
