Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

People always come up with reasons to dislike Tata. "Oh, it looks like an Indica!", " The name sounds like Indica", "Tata cars have parts falling off all the time", " They have copied Hyundai, Ford, etc.", "Tata ASS sucks big time".

To all the above, a hatch is definitely going to look like a hatch, with a bonnet, a hatch and 4 doors, not to forget a pair of headlamps and tail lights.

Why does a name have to carry a stigma to it? Did you ever have the choice of finding a name for yourself? You are who you are. The name does not matter. It is you that does.

ASS of most companies are governed by one single motto - Rise in profits. They will all suck unless you know how to handle them. Service Stations today are available in plenty. I have used a single ASS for the last 18-20 years.

Quality - I have had nearly every car from the Tata stable right from their inception, save for the Aria and the Estate. I have always found VFM like no other brand. I have had cars from other stables as well. My 4 year old Vista has clocked 84k, incl. a single 8500 km drive across North and West India from Coimbatore during peak summer this year, without a single puncture or rattle, fully loaded, across all terrain.

I have seen how they have evolved over the years and how quality has been on par with other brands since 2006. That's a decade of good quality. I have also learnt one more thing.

Cribbers will always crib.

Given base model's exterior characteristics and supposedly < INR 4.5 lacs ownership cost, Zica base model makes a perfect fit for private taxi fleet operators!

Very Well Said DiscoverWild,
I think we the Indians are quite adamant while we think about any car brand or car.
No offence!
Even after seeing many cases showing unsafe cars from 'India's Most Popular Brand' we still follow them in herd.
Shocked to see Dzire doing 20+k sales numbers even after there are more safer and price competitive options available in the market.
Like Baleno (if you want to stick to brand or Ford Aspire or Tata Zest)

Tata Motors offer more features and convenience in almost every car, compared to its segment - may it be a Nano or Safari.

I agree, Tata cars had issues in the past but that doesn't mean they will always make garbage.
Hoping that we get more dynamic and more open minded towards everything before making comments.

Pardon me if I have hurt someone, but this is the reaction I always wished to express when someone criticizes particular brand blindly.

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Just hope Tata have done all it takes to make the car reliable and niggle free. Also, hope they've learnt how to diet as the Bolt was extremely heavy. Tata needs this car as Zest isn't a runaway success.

The side profile has a resemblance with the new gen Figo.

Why do you feel bolt could be discontinued soon ? Given that Tata has to face stiff competition.

Completely agree on all your points and more specifically on above one. Creta is the best proof of this statement.

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

I, for once don't see any Indica in the Zica's styling. It is quite refreshing & on par with the contemporary
offerings from the competition. Of course, the naming could have been better. Nevertheless, I've other
questions - the rumored 1.05L diesel mill which will debut on the Zica, do we know if this a entirely grounds-up
in-house development by TATA or a re-bored 1.3MJD (as in Chevrolet Beat) ?

If only, TATA could mate an AMT with this diesel oil-burner & offer a trim with ABS & 2 air-bags, it would make
a compelling case for itself.

Attaching a few screenshots from the latest video posted on Youtube.

Few things that are obvious from the images are
  • No Redline on Tachometer
  • Multi mode drive
  • Multi info display
  • New Top End variant called XZ (instead of XT)

The first image of the speedo shows N. Thus is obvious it will be available in AMT as well

Maybe the redline is like the Manza and the needle will just turn red? I find it a rather cool feature in the Manza.

Tata Bolt shares the same MID and there is a gear shift indicator on it. So its not that obvious considering there's no AMT variant in Bolt

Instant fuel economy at 30 This alone should be enough to bring smile on the face of majority of Indian buyers.
