I notice the car is still over 1000 kg! Surprised, in an era where the Baleno, which sits a class higher is over 150 kg lighter. What gives?
Overall, very impressed with the Zica

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Totally impressed with the interiors!! IMO, Tata offers total value for money on all its car. The service levels are quite improved now. Hope the marketing team and the service team doesn't mess this time! Fingers crossed!

Some photos from ACI. Very smart design. The attention to detail is terrific.

That confirms the rear demister.

Looks like Tata has given preference to cabin space over boot and I like that.

And a proud Mayank Pareek with the car.

Wonderful pictures. Looks really well built and fit and finish is as good as cars of higher class. Hope this does well for Tatas sale.

According to Carwale, the Innova Z version weighs at 1700kg while C8 version of the sub 4M Quanto weighs 1640Kg Wonder how Innova managed to stuff the .5m length with just the extra 60kgs

Let's not even go into the Xylo here.

Very smart design indeed. I can see no immediate reasons to complain - the car looks nice, is well proportioned and I am sure will be priced well. The only question that remains is the engine. In my opinion, if the engine is refined and fuel efficient ( even if it is a bit low on power), it will be a big hit.

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Beautiful car and thoroughly impressed. It would be nice to see how its received in the market now. The ASS is also improving but the two central ingredients to its success will be service and marketing. If I was in the market for a hatch, I won't hesitate to put my money on ZICA. Of course, I don't see myself there over the next 5 years so that's not a potential customer for Tata.

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

The more I look I at Zica, the it reminds me of the new Figo; which is a good thing as I love the way the new Figo looks that's why I own it!

The fit and finish is quite unlike Tata and it's a pleasant surprise. I sincerely hope the package, as in the engine and ride quality, is good too.

More importantly I hope people should give this a serious consideration based on it's merits and demerits and not with prejudices for Tata.

Best of luck, Zica!

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Credit where it is due, kudos TATA! Finally you've given us something that doesn't resemble the humble Indica in any which way! I must admit I wasn't much impressed with the graphical pictures but the last one in the flesh, looks brilliant. The interior seems to be plush and hoping the build quality has improved several notches. Knowing TATA, the Zica will surely undercut all its competition with respect to pricing. They have a probable winner in their hands and all that is left for them to do is market it properly and improve the A*S*S.

With the Zica, it is heartening to see more manufacturers moving away from over chrome-ing their cars and offering black interiors.

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

When a couple of friends were deciding on new compact sedan, and asked the negatives for Zest, I would only point out the lack of cubby holes and bottle holders. I am glad Zica has put them to rest!! Wonderful to see Tata responding to customer feedback!

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Really nice to see a very well designed car from Tata. I was always a fan of the brand after owning the Manza and was praying they come up the curve in terms of vehicle sales in India. I just hope their marketing team is aggressive with this car.

If they have listened to customer feedback and done some changes to the interior thats the first step towards changing their fortunes. Lets hope AMT diesel is priced well.

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

It is a simple clean design. I like the proportions and seems to be pretty well equipped. I hope the material quality levels and build quality is also good. Overall i am pretty impressed with whatever i have seen.

If Tata prices it reasonably then i am sure it will be a success.

Re: The Tata Zica Hatchback (aka Kite)

Few Observations from the media drive twitter feeds
  • Interior Fit and Finished Mixed. Some good parts, Some plastics quality average. Interior Door open handle came off (Betrand Dsouza). Could not open from inside
  • Clean styling and a Grand i10 kind of looks from the side.
  • Hatch door cannot be opened from inside.
  • Body colored protruding Side vents in Orange and Red cars.
  • official Mileage figures not out. But expected to be ~25kmpl for the diesel and 18-20 for the Petrol.
  • Linear drivability for the Petrol. Not peppy. Petrol though part of Revotron family is not a turbo charged one.

True, but there is such a thing as a price point. If this one starts at 3.5 Ex showroom, it might certainly end up being a cab.

Can manufacturers prohibit such usage ? Not that there's anything wrong with it, but I've seen a lot of people not buy Indica, simply because its "the Taxi".
