SCOOP: Proof that the Honda Jazz is coming our way...

Hey Guys

Was off to Noida tonight to catch a late night movie... and guess what I saw speeding down the expressway... a car I would recognise anywhere...

A Honda Jazz being escorted by a NHC swiftly through traffic, ensuring it didnt slow down anywhere. But I managed to take a few pics...

I think the fact that it was escorted by a NHC, had its badging covered, was headed for Greater Noida (where the Honda factory is), and the UP number plate, should be evidence enough this car is seriously being tested for our market... Lets hope this one makes it here...

Cheers

hey gunbir, that could be great news indeed for the hot-hatch segment

though - are you sure the car was a hatch only, cause the backside resembles more of honda odyssey (innova category) than jazz.

Honda Jazz is one of the best small cars in the world! It is very reliable. Every auto mags and owners praised it profoundly. If priced correctly, it should be a huge hit in India.

Pricing should be one the main issues here ...

In markets like China/Malaysia, the Jazz is around 30% cheaper than the NHC. Taking 7L as the approx price for the base NHC model in delhi, the base Jazz should be around 5L+ ex-showroom delhi. This places it much higher than the highest end swift/getz/palio.

But something tells me that it would be tough for Honda to pull it off again, despite its brand-name and quality (and other virtues of the car). Indians would rather have a sedan at that price, rather than a hatch. But then again, it might re-define the really-hot-hatch segment, where Fusion has failed.

so, what should be the correct price of Jazz?

ok, Goldie thinks 5L ex-Delhi might be difficult to pull off for Honda.

i think, a premium of 50k over the top model (of getz/swift/palio which costs 5.5L OTR here in Mumbai) is fair enough. But I am afraid Honda might price it at a lac above and still get away with it.

i doubt this model could do as well as the other models honda has safely put in india......this one is a NICHE offering and honda must not expect volumes for this product......they could have tried a smaller car.......something like the toyota aygo???

as far as I knw, all Honda products are lil bit more expensive than there counterparts...

but ppl still buy them in bulk volumes because of the quality standard they set.

Jazz would be a Hit even if its base model costs close to 5L.

Are you sure it was a Honda Jazz? because Honda has some non-Indian Hondas (including MUVs/vans) to ferry their Jap execs around. They have UP nos too. They frequent the Greater Noida Ewp-way between Delhi/Noida and their factory!
