Land Rover will launch the second-generation Range Rover Sport in India on October 17th.

The RR will come with two engine options; a 3.0-litre diesel V6 and a 5.0-litre petrol V8.
The 3.0-liter V6 diesel produces 292hp and 600Nm of torque.
0-100km/h in 7.2 seconds while the top-speed is restricted to 222km/h.
Average fuel efficiency claimed at 13.33km/l

5.0-liter supercharged V8 engine produces 510hp and 625Nm of torque.
0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds while top-speed is restricted to 250km/h.
Average fuel efficiency claimed at 7.81km/l

Both come with stop-start system and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The new car is 62mm longer than the outgoing Sport, but still 149mm shorter than the flagship Range Rover, while its wheelbase is 178mm longer than that of its predecessor. Thus, its rear overhang is markedly shorter than before and the redesigned cabin offers both more rear-seat knee room and space for an optional pair of electrically powered, fold-down, child-friendly seats forming a third row, making this a ‘5+2’ SUV for the first time.

I'm waiting to see what they do with the pricing this time as they butchered it with the RR vogue and autobiography model pricing earlier this year.

If previous speculations are to be believed this will costs as much as the last gen Vogue in India. Which means it will be well over a crore!

It's a beautiful piece of machinery and I'd love to see more of them on our roads but that won't happen unless it's priced below the 1cr mark.

Unfortunately that will not happen. They can't have it priced around the Discovery 4, which, according to a discussion with a JLR sales rep is priced around 1.3 CR on road KA. Granted they are different animals altogether but our market is not matured enough to handle that distinction. Throw in an average of 62-65 exchange rate on the dollar, I'm expecting around 1.2 to 1.3 CR ex-show room on the Sport as well as price increases all around.

The last gen RR Sport v6 diesel and Discovery4 were closely priced. They cater to different client needs hence the Discovery 4 did not find many buyers in India as we seem to give more priority to style than utility.
The next gen Discovery could bride the gap. It's styling is heavily inspired by the Evoque.

But like I said, it is highly unlikely the pricing will be below the 1cr mark.

It is because they hardly sold Disco's that they are going to try to price them in different brackets. I tend to understand that logic in India (I don't like it though); On the other hand it could have just been a very shrewd sales person giving subtle hints.

With the current pricing structure, the top end Vogue with it's ridiculously high pricing suddenly makes no sense at all.

These are what in economics we call, giffen goods. The higher the price, the more sense it makes!

No one is buying them for offroading. These are purchsed so that everyone around you knows that you have a 1cr+ car.

The Range Rover Sport SVR is finally available on sale in India at a price of Rs. 2.035 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). The SVR is the range-topping variant of the Sport, which sits above the Autobiography and is priced ~Rs. 29 lakh higher.

A single unit of the Range Rover Sport, powered by a 3.0L V6 petrol engine, has been imported into our country for homologation purposes.

Seems like this will be added to the existing Sport lineup sometime in the near future.

The supercharged V6 powerplant in this particular Sport variant churns out 340HP of power and 450Nm of torque.

Spotted this RR SVR today in this amazing blue shade. The growl was to die for...I was riding behind it and the way it accelerated ... Felt like running for cover.
