I'd rather prefer they launch this a 5-seater Rush in the 10-13 lakhs segment and bring the RAV4 for 13-16 lakhs segment and complete the story.

Will take the latest RAV4 anyday if bought at the right price.

If both are brought here, Toyota will be having 5 SUVs in their line-up. Too much I would say. Instead, place Rush at 14-18L bracket and bring Avanza at 8-12L seem more appropriate to me.

Edit: SUV probably is wrong term to denote Rush and RAV4, however, you get the meaning. On second thought, Mahindra already has more than 5 UVs under their belt. Might not be too much after all, or is it?!

That price would be too high a price for Rush.

Toyota India currently has only one SUV as such - Fortuner (not considering Land Cruiser) plus Innova. Even if at all they bring Avanza it has to sit below Innova, and similarly if Rush comes in it has to be priced around same range (8-12L). But first Toyota will have to plonk diesel engine on both these vehicles then only it will make sense for India. They will definitely not bring petrol only versions here.

And why not? LC200 and Prado are certainly SUVs. Including Fortuner, Toyota does have 3 SUVs in their line-up already. They are at much different price point of course, but so does Fortuner when compared with Rush.

The price range for Rush I mentioned earlier was purely my view based on how typically Toyota prices its (outdated) models here. It all depends on how Toyota wants to play with its premium positioning here (and NOT by how it is priced elsewhere). Having said that, if they bring in their latest RAV4 and price it sensibly then nothing like it!

Regarding diesel heart, they already have their 1.4L D4D doing duties in Etios and Altis (slightly tuned-up). Matching it up with Rush shouldn't be too difficult for them.

LC200 & Prado are very much SUVs, no doubt about that, the only reason for not considering them was, their total combined sale (LC200+Prado) during the period Apr-Sep is 45 units, so not much of an impact from sales point of view. Fortuner is a real good performer for them as far as nos are concerned. They do have resources in terms of engine and vehicles, but we have been hearing about Rush / Avanza coming to India for quite some time now and yet there is still no clear confirmation from Toyota.

If the Next Gen (Rush)compact crossover from Toyota sees the light of the day in the next year or so, the SUV is likely to be sold in India from 2016 and beyond!

If it is not meant for India then why bother with the camouflage ? I also notice door visors! Probably the first time I'm seeing a camo'ed test car with door visors. Hints at this being a pre-used unit.

Toyota is not testing this Rush.

As mentioned above, it is used by one of the rival companies for benchmarking.
