Re: New BMW 5-Series F10 LCI Launched

Isn't this a total drool material?! Probably reason enough to buy it for the looks alone.

Re: New BMW 5-Series F10 LCI Launched

I guess the photo shows the M kit version that costs maybe 70Lakhs OTR. I am sure the popular 520d version is a lot more sober/staid. A good opportunity to milk 520d customers with M kits at twice the usual cost.

Even luxury car buyers don't look at the petrol any more it seems, BMW hasn't bothered with one.

What is the difference between the Modern and the Luxury variant? They have the same ex-showroom price?

Nice coverage, Anshuman!

If I'm not wrong, the M5 does 0-100 in 4.9 secs on 98 RON fuel. With this one claiming to reach the mark in 5.8 secs, we finally have a diesel M5 at an affordable price, lol!

I believe the sport line has bucket seats as compared to comfort seats (they use a specific name which I cannot recollect) and the front grill has chrome in the sport line. There are a few more differences but I cant remember them.

Other than that, almost the entire vehicle, power output, interiors seem to be the same.

Re: 2013 BMW 5-Series Facelift launched in India

Kind of off topic, but the Z4 still selling at 68.90lac is very good pricing given that the price of the new SLK has gone up to 1cr ex-showroom Mumbai in light of the import duty hike + the rupee weakening.

The M5 does it in 4.3 or so, some magazines have reported even faster times. Not comparable to an M5 in any sense.

It might be a typo lol. The 330D convertible is 81 ex showroom. 10l more than a car which is arguably more stylish, and faster.

Anyway I don't understand what BMW is trying to do. The 1 series specs were messed up badly, but the 5 FL seems to be specced pretty well.

Nice that the LEDs are standard on all variants, but why in the world are 18" rims standard on all now too? This is used as a chauffeur driven car a lot, and I don't think the people at the back will enjoy the 18s + RFT ride at all.

Also they seem to have stopped the red brown interiors, with only black oyster and beige available. Red brown was classy and sporty at the same time.

Otherwise its pretty much the same as the previous 5, the price increase on the 530d is about 2 lacs, which I guess is fine. Oh yeah rear view camera standard on all too, nice.

The rims on the M sport are also changed from the horrible 18s they offered earlier, these look really nice.

Elsewhere in the world, M550d variant is the most powerful Diesel variant sold under the hood of F10 5 Series. It does 100 in 4.7 secs, which is a lot closer to the M5, atleast on the paper. This 740nm Engine with Triple Turbochargers is a dream engine for Diesel-heads like me.

Even the more powerful 535d with 313hp version of this same inline 6 Diesel is not available in India.

Yes the M550d surely must be a bomb and I too being a diesel head admire the gem of an engine it has under the hood. Triple Turbochargers! 740nm torque! WOW is the only word. Wish to drive that someday while I'm on a holiday because even dreaming of getting it in India officially would be stupidity. Nevertheless the 535d would have been great as well but doesn't seem like we will ever get to see a bigger engine than the 30d for the 5er in India.

Here are some interior shots of the new 5 Series taken from the Turbos & Pistonz. Changes are very subtle but still one can feel the freshness.
