Bizman’s dream SUV turns nightmarish: Hyundai Santa Fe

Mukesh Sonagra puts on display his Rs 27 lakh SUV that has been giving him troubles ever since he bought it a year and a half ago

It was a dream car that started giving nightmares to Mukesh Sonagra. The 33-year-old businessman got so fed up with the problems that his high-end car was giving him that he chose to talk about it rather publicly.

He has taken to the roads, quite literally, by parking his car near S G Highway with poster over it warning others to not buy the car.

Sonagrahad purchased a Hyundai Santa Fe which cost about Rs 27 lakh about a year and a half ago,but within three months it started showing signs of problems, he claimed.

Imagine how fed up he must be in order to take to the streets. Lack of strong consumer law results in customer service going for a toss.

This is bad news for Hyundai looking for premium customers with their Santa Fe. I had a feeling Hyundai's reliability and customer service levels were bullet proof in India.

They might just loose what little Santa Fe customers they might garner.

Sad to know about his ordeal. But I think he's got a lemon, and we cannot conclude that all Santa Fes are problem-prone.
Only the other day we heard of Salman Khan's nervous moments with his Range Rover.

Nevertheless, this will deter prospective customers from the Santa Fe. As a matter of fact, most customers pick up either the Fortuner or settle for the Pajero, Endy or Captiva in that price range.

Why didnt the owner approach the consumer forum? I guess he had been sold a lemon, should have definitely taken the Hyundai top brass to court. On one hand when Hyundai beats its chest to have sold 50L cars, we have this one too to mar the celebrations.

Whether it is the Hyundai's fault or the person is being unreaonable no one knows. However, Hyundai should swing into damage control and do what ever is required to end this. As it is they are having trouble selling anything in a higher level than Verna.
