re: Rumour: VW Jetta facelift launching soon in India *EDIT: launched!*

Honestly, no upgrade is visible unless looked closely or parked next to each other... it was hard for me to understand what changed in the rear until I compared the pictures of the new car and my car :-)

Here is what the VW could have done to take off,
1. CL TDI with 6 speed DSG
2. CL & HL TSi with 7 Speed DSG
3. CL with RCD510 or Blaupunkt Philadelphia 835 instead of the crappy RCD320
4. True leather upholstery instead of the (good quality) leatherette
5. vRS spec edition with all black interiors, sports pedals, black & red stitched leather
6. Optional Chrome Tail pipes, Sill plates, Spoiler

Sorry VOLKSWAGEN. Just in case they are listening to this thread, such type of facelifts is the foray of local Car accessory shop. Hardly anything fresh. I expected something better. A big let down.

It's such a big disappointment. I honestly expected it to be on par with its own sibling the Octavia. Guess the only sane thing is that they didn't go bonkers with the price increase. It's probably going to retail at around 25 lakhs OTR bangalore (HL AT) and that's a good 2 lakhs lower than Octavia elegance

Another review. This time by Motoroids. They have a much more positive sentiment about the car, than Autocar India. Comprehensive Photo gallery too. The blue colour looks really nice on this car.

1.4 Ltr TDI and 2.0 TSI? A goof up on the VW web site?

http://www.volkswagen.co.in/en/2015-...etta-2015.html

I guess it should be the other way round or..?

However, it the run up two days from now, the Jetta page is taken off from the product list on the VW home page.

re: Rumour: VW Jetta facelift launching soon in India *EDIT: launched!*

Got a chance to see the 2015 Jetta in close quarters when I was just beginning to get out of the dealership. Here are some pictures -

The Silver is a Highline Manual, Blue a Trendline (notice the alloys) and White Highline Auto.

Some of the observations -

1. Feels more upmarket than the 2014 Jetta
2. Looks bigger thanks to those additional lines - feels like a premium sedan from the outside
3. Interiors tad better than the 2014 model
4. The big change comes in the form of -
(1) redesigned bumper with a larger air dam
(2) redesigned rear bumper
(3) restyled 2-piece tail lamps
(4) prominent L shaped DRL integrated into the headlight unit
(5) the redesigned flat bottomed steering wheel
(6) chrome inserts on the interiors
(7) new seat upholstery (leatherette still)
(8) RCD 510 Premium 8 infotainment system
5. Interiors still not anyway close to the kind of luxury we saw in the MK V version. What a difference the leather pack gives to the interiors. For a 25+ car, lack of this is unpardonable.
6. Metal gauge is still very less compared to the older model, for obvious reasons. Boot lid doesn't feel like that of a premium D segment - feather light it is!
7. Felt lining still missing in glove compartments
8. The big let down comes in the form of retaining the same engine tunes, though slightly more refined (as I read in one of the reviews)
9. I also came to know that the Jetta, unlike the Octavia, isn't on the MQB. That was a surprise for I thought it was. The way the metal gauge has been significantly reduced makes owners of the MKV version like me, bit puzzled.

Pay quarter of a Crore and miss the tank like build, leather package (seats, steering wheel, gear knob), rich lining everywhere from the wheel arch to the gloveboxes? I think I will latch on to my faithful, beautiful MKV. Picture attached.

re: Rumour: VW Jetta facelift launching soon in India *EDIT: launched!*

The rear looks very odd with that flat surface for the number plate. Wish VW had given it some lines like that on the Rapid and new Octavia!

Also, I don't like the horizontal lines on the front bumper. Think its been done to make the car look wide, but makes it very boring to look at.

Wish the line on top had not extended all the way on the bumper but contained in the middle.

PS: Please excuse my crude attempt.

The Jetta still retains most of the tank like build quality. The MQB platform which the Octavia is based on loses even more tank like feel vs the new Jetta. They have gone into weight reduction mode heavily in MQB.

So when the next new generation Jetta is announced in 2016/2017 based on MQB expect it to feel even less tank like than the current Jetta.

The doors of the Octavia just doon't shut with the same thud as that of the Jetta.
