My local dealer will get the TD vehicle on 9th Oct. He didn't have the brochure/specs even today, so I asked him to pick it up from this thread, which he did instantly while I was on the call.

As it is, with safaris selling approx 2xxx vehicles per month, it may take a while for problems to get reported and rectified, simply because the number of vehicles on the road is less and not evey owner is proactive in approaching dealerships at the hint of trouble, unlike most of us on TBHP

hey hii himanshu

the old tcic engine might not be so powerful.. but it was very reliable..

how do i know? cos i had the pleasure of owning 4 of them.. at the same time.. out of which one was being used by me personally.. not once didnt i get a major problem with any of them.. all of them were with me till roughly 1 lac kms.. so i can vouch for thier reliability.. and they werent used just on normal city roads.. but on all kinds of terrain..

coming back to the main topic : just back from concorde, they got the brochures and the td car.. which is at thier stock yard and cant show the car till the formal launch..

went through the brouchre.. but couldnt take a copy home cos they cant hand it out till the formal launch.. which most likely in hyd is this saturday.

Coming from TD of 2.2l safari with neotrace.
Car is amazingly powerful.Braking is really great ABS does the job really well.
Body rattle is not much.(We own one old gen safari so I know earlier generation Safari well).AC is really powerful though Roof mounted AC remain unchanged, No Innova like wents..Reverse guide system is pretty neat...
Front grill looks good.
Here are some pictures of the Top of the line 4X2 model available at dealer's place for TD.

OT :
I set in Neotrace's car(TCed Baleno)..Really sweet ride he got...

SAfari 2.2 Test Drive & Launch

I'm from bangalore, and , After reading this thread, I became very interested in the 2.2 Dicor, and approached both Concorde and Manipal motors who categorically deny having a TD vehicle ( understandable ).

Both do not have any idea of pricing. Concorde mentioned 50-60k increase and Manipal mentioned 30-40k.

Concorde mentioned 4th as launch date and when I called today to check for pricing, I was told the launch is on the 8th....

Have any of the other members heard otherwise ???

Ok finally got to check the Beast out in person. The engine sounded sweet, could not take it for a spin since the dealer is not allowed to "Show Off" the New version till the actual launch. But thanks to you guys here have pretty much gotten the latest on how things stand.

Will keep glued to this thread for any new Info.

Cheers,

turby

Hello Deepak,
The vehicles have arrived in Bangalore and the official launch is on 8th October at the Taj West End. So, until then you will not get a test drive. I know that Manipal has received one EX variant as test drive vehicle.

Did the ex-showroom price go down by 20k?

This is the current 4x2 VX ex-showroom price in Surat.

Hello power ranger,

Thanks for the update, still I don't understand how deepak was able to TD 2.2, from the looks of Image, I realize that the photos are taken in Palce Guttahalli road where Manipal Motors . MM is denying and even do not acknowledge that they have demo / td vehicle under their disposal.

looks like I have to wait till official launch, anyways, I will try again tomorrow.
