2.2?tata is still confused!

hi!
our man in tata says they're still trying to figure it out.
the 2.2 has too many mechanical faults.so they are skeptical of launching it soon.
wonder what they launched abroad?
pricing hasnt been decided as well.
the bsz series which the forum has already talked about is all that we can look fwd to for now.
they are making clutch assembly/pressure plate changes in this series as well though as they expect problems.
well what do i say.

My CSZ series is on its way....I need to know if it is old one or the improved?

Also I am slightly confused. I believe TATA has debuted 2.2L abroad( Bologna/Geneva show ). I tried visting the Tata websites of italy/hungary/spain/SA but found no mention of 2.2L DICOR. Are they really selling it right now there? And if they are still sorting out issues in 2.2L wrt mechanical faults + also parallely selling it in some markets, then it reflects an extremely ridiculous execution/quality control from TATAs. More then impacting their own reputation abroad, they shall put a -ve perspective in the consumer mind there about the workmanship of indian manufacturers.

BTW, I think I missed out on what is <bsz series>. I did a search on the forum but still not very clear. Can someone educate me about what is this series wrt 2.2L/3.0L dicor?

Yes agreed but they're almost 6 months old on TBHP too. They were out on this forum the day they came out on the Bologna website.

Hello Team;

Can anybody explain what is "CSZ" or "BSZ"?

Is this terminology related some new model of Safari or the existing one?

I am planning to book my Beauty ( Safari ) in next couple of months....Any advise from the team..... should i wait for the 2.2 or go in for 3.0?

CSZ/BSZ and all are the initial three letters od the batch in which the car is made. I mean they release cars in batches like you have batches in medicine.
Batch numbers help mantain record of a similar series. In most of the cases the batch number changes because of :

1.) Maximum number cars in a batch exceeded. e.g. when getting car registered the middle two letters changes after every 5-9000 cars. In Hyd when i took my Safari, I got AP 09 BE and now we see BG on the road

2.) Second reason for change in batch number is any technical change.

Its just a good way of tracking the lot the car was manufactured in. I took my safari in Sep 06 and is a JTZ series .

The first three letters of the chasis and engine number are same and that is waht is JTZ/CSZ/BSZ for different cases.

So a batch number does not really mean that car is more advanced or not. It is only to be used by Tata guys to identify if your car needs any upgradation or has any fault which was reported to TATA and needs a repair/retorfit...

Thanks buddy for such a detailed response with information.

BTW Doctorkats after giving us the breaking news seems to have again gone in to hiding. Any further information on 2.2L is more then welcome. Now I am wondering whether the sales guy from A-ONE motors was indeed giving me the right information

2.2 Dicor on sale in Italy?

Following this site - Leonori adesso anche TATA

Looks like the 2.2 has arrived there in the showrooms, the price of which may translate here at around 10.5 lakhs or more. Any idea about how it is doing out there? And whether the 2.2 will be available in all the versions?

Anyway at that price, it is just beyond me. May have a look at the phoenix [the new sumo] with the same 2.2 engine as I would never like the idea of seeing a sumo-like vehicle overtaking my dicor 3 and also being much quieter [the dicor 3 I almost bought this march, the way I am holding back is just incredible]

While I agree with everything else you have said (and a very good explanation), the above statement is not necessarily true. My DiCOR has a chassis of the ASZ series and engine of MTZ series.

OT... But, here is my attempt at decoding this series..

First Character: *Loosely* related to month of manufacture.
A--B--C--D--E--F--G--H--I--J----K---L----M
--1--2--3--4--5--6--7--8--9--10--11--12---

For example, A (or B) could be related to January. B ( or C) would be related to February.. and so on..

Second Character: Year, Encoded in reverse order.
Q--R--S--T--U--V--W--X--Y--Z
09-08-07-06-05-04-03-02-01-00

Third Character: One freak idea is that it will change every 10 years. For example: 2010 onwards, we will see the last character change to Y.

Applying this theory to available data (with which we have derived this theory hehehehe )
ASZ would mean manufactured in Jan-07
MTZ would mean manufactured in Dec-06
JTZ would mean manufactured in Sep/Oct - 06
BSZ would mean manufactured in Jan/Feb - 07
CSZ would mean manufactured in Feb/Mar - 07

WOW, thats good decodig man. makes sense. and as i said its just the batch number and does not necessarily mean a upgraded vehicle.

The theory seems right, my CSZ has a manufacturing date of march 07.
