The first character is the month of manufacture, not just loosely related.

Third Character: One freak idea is that it will change every 10 years. For example: 2010 onwards, we will see the last character change to Y.
The table you have provided is applicable for both the second and third characters but in reverse order.

So, TZ -> ZT = 06
and SZ -> ZS = 07

Hi
I have uploaded the pricing of all variants of the DICOR at
ImageShack - Hosting :: dicorpricingws2.jpg
I have one confusion, it looks like the difference in 4*4 & 4*2 across the three variants is very much different( shown in cream background ). Can someone please explain why is it this way.

Regards

DICOR sales up

Source :-
Domain-b : Indian business : industry : automotive : general : Automobiles: Sustained volume growth in February

UV and SUV sales of Tata Motors went up substantially by 41 per cent to 5,306 units, the highest ever-monthly volumes for the company in this segment. SUV model Safari continued to see very good demand and sold 2,009 units, an increase of 258 per cent from a year ago.
M&M sold 2,382 units of SUV model Scorpio in the domestic market and exported 255 units. Monthly sales of the Scorpio were 14 per cent higher than the same month of pervious year, but substantially lower than January 2007. The company launched an upgraded version of the entry-level SUV model Bolero last week. Prices of the new version have been lowered to make the product more competitive in the market. Tractor sales by the company increased 5 per cent to 7,003 units from 6,655 units a year ago, including exports of 553 units.

Since 3.0L DICOR is anyway doing a good show, I am wondering if TATA would really think on bringing 2.2L very soon

Makes me wonder why TATA's were dragging its feet all these years continuing with the 2.0 TCIC, although the new 3.0 DICOR is exactly a bomb shell its still selling like hot cakes and has what safari cried for all along... a little more power.

2.2 2.2 2.2 2.2 2.2 2.2 2.2 2.2........................................
we've been holding our breath for a while now.
truth be told even senior tata officials dont seem to know when,how and for how much they're going to launch it!
contrasting and conflicting views from most of the chaps i've spoken to.
if the company seems unsure of the 2.2 why should a consumer exude so much faith in it.
in the mean time i feel it makes more sense in sticking to the 3.0
long live the 3.0 dicor!

I feel we should close this thread, this has become more of a 3.0 thread. According to my sources in M & M I dont see the 2.2 L launching before the end of this year and I am sure with the kind of numbers that both Safari & Scorpio's are clocking, they would not be in great hurry to launch it either. As far as export market goes I guess Tata's can source a good engine from Fiat and fulfill the Euro IV requirment and so can Mahindras by falling back on Renault. Wont it be nice that the same kind of engines are then manufactured in India and are available on both these cars.

Dicor 2.2L is already in production with nearly 350 to 400 units made for export market, as ithe engine is common for both Telcoline & Safari.

The surprising part is that if there is so much of issues with 2.2, how can they sell this in foreign markets

So, what does this supposed to mean? Is this just hearsay? Where are these units being exported to?

I've been biting my tongue from saying this, but this information is pretty useless without specifics.

Yes the 2.2 is being exported in Europe. As far as introduction in India is concerned, I'l just say that its still safe to book the 3.0 dicor for a few more months.

Any idea about how the 2.2 is doing out there in Italy? And whether the 2.2 is available in all the versions - LX, EX and VX?

Hm. 493 replies. 9 months of discussion. Yet no signs of local production for the 2.2.

It's but inevitable to assume that the 2.2 will debut in the X2/X5 platforms intended for 2008 production line; in India, of course; which'll be all new EURO-IV variants.

Until next year, long live DICOR.
