So have you booked the TD.

It would be good to know the opinion of a 3.0l owner for the 2.2l.

Make sure you record the whole thing [On a pocket recorder if possible] and take us through the whole experience. I know that would be real covert stuff but what can I say its Team-BHP and its quality and precision of the review that matters here and as you are already a 3L owner you would be spontaneous to point out the new stuff right from when you look at the vehicle. So press that recording button and do your stuff!

Cheers!

Let me add my bit of news from Pune...

1. Seven booking already for 2.2 with out knowing the price or specs or TD.
2. 25th is the launch date confirmed.
3. A new aluminum engine
4. Beige color interiors
5. No bookings for 4X4 as of now.

Remaining news is same as discussed in this thread.

Now that its almost out (the 2.2L), here goes........

I have worked on the turbo for the 3.0L DICOR and briefly (mostly helped out doing small stuff) on the 2.2L...have driven both and all i will say is that the 2.2L is really great!!! Free revving, delivers its peak torque of 340 N-m really early (1750, if i remember well)..and revs all the way upto 4000 rpm..in comparison, the 3.0L engine isnt as free revving, and beyond 3000 rpms, well, the lesser said the better..hope you guys get to drive it soon....

And you've resisted any temptation to spill this out since 19 June 2006!

Will the new Safari be a monocoque?
I'd prefer a less wobbly car apart from the safety that comes along.

Wait for the X2. Logically atleast it should be, to accomodate any stillborn safety regulations.
