Farhan Akhtar: Brand Ambassador for Ford Figo Aspire

Joining the bandwagon of compact sedans is this Ford's latest offering which is expected to hit the showrooms very soon. Ford has roped in bollywood actor, director and singer - Farhan Akhtar as the brand ambassador.

The curse for a compact sedan- boot integration looks awkward. Much like the D'zire.
The way it ends abruptly; more noticeable when when you particularly look below the shoulder line of the car.

Re: Ford Figo-based compact sedan - The Aspire

IMHO by far this is one of the best looking CS in India. I am quite impressed with generous features Ford is providing with this car especially segment first features like 6 air bags, Hill Assist Program and ESP.

One thing is sure, Ford is pretty serious with this attempt and they are betting big on safety. With all these bells and whistles, it would be interesting to see the pricing strategy which Ford adopts here.

I think Ford will retain 175/65 R14 as found in Brazilian counterpart.

Wow!, If the fit and finish of both the interior and exterior is as good as it seems from the photos, then Ford has really improved a lot.
But all I want is the brilliant steering and dynamics of the old Figo. A little extra power would be nice too.

Will the hatchback also come simultaneously? I hope it will also have all those nice features.

I hope they have resolved the rear legroom problem. The front seats seem to have gone slimmer with space carved out from behind.
And the boot looks accommodating as well. If it can take 2 strollers (I assume those are big ones), the boot space should be in the region on 400 liters (could be wishful thinking )

[quote=arunphilip;3698957]Here are some observations based on the pictures.

The buttons on the seat back indicates probability of a foldable seat back in Ford Aspire.

This is perhaps first-in-class in <4m CS segment, if I am not wrong. And it would be really welcome and practical for CS with little boot space compared to a full-fledged sedan.

One loaded to the gills sub four meter car. First in segment dual clutch transmission, ESP and all round air bags. Well done Ford.

I hope the 1.2l can output at least 85-90 horses.

Pictures suggest a high quality interior, possibly segment best.

Quite a complex mechanism for the boot hinges. Nice to see gas struts.

Ford is hoping that for once, Indian customers can see beyond shiny chrome and useless cosmetic features and actually pay for safety. I hope so too. Else, we will have another manufacturer going back to the safety of "what-Indians-buy" :-(

Re: Ford Figo-based compact sedan - The Aspire

Wow, that looks to be a well rounded package. 6 airbags, DCT AT, Well done Ford. Would be interesting to see how they price it. Any idea if the AT will come with the diesel also? That would make it a game changer.

Would have been great if they had brought in the DCT tied to the 1.0 Ecoboost. That would have given enthusiasts a good alternative to the GT TSI.

Ok, they have done the hard work, seem to be bringing in a good product. Now all it remains is for Ford and it's dealers to actually plan making an effort to sell in good numbers rather than focus on exporting.

No offense meant to new Fiesta owners but I feel sorry for new Fiesta owners here. Ford has killed new Fiesta with the list of features available in Aspire and I don`t want them to overkill it by introducing ecoboost.

Am I just imagining it or is the wiper stalk on the left and the indicators on the right? (Like the Indian and Japanese cars, like they're supposed to be...)

Re: Ford Figo-based compact sedan - The Aspire

I really am liking this car

From the pics at least, Ford does seem to have done a thorough homework on the Aspire. The features are all thoughtful and practical! And on top of it, they have made it to look good; I for one am not feeling anything being out of proportion. This certainly deserves to succeed

Re: Ford Figo-based compact sedan - The Aspire

Wow. This thing easily impressed me with its safety and feature list. Looks the best among the compact sedans too.
6 airbags, ESP, DCT with hill hold are most welcome.
I think this is the first time we're seeing OEM leather seats below C2 segment as well.

All these make me think that the Aspire will be positioned between other C1s and C2s in terms of price.
If that is the case, I hope people consider this car for its merits than just going and buying Dzire and Amaze which have suspect safety and low features.

Only wish is, they should have given better speedo console with MID and an enthusiastic petrol engine, ala Ecoboost, considering the market's tilt towards the petrols.

Overall, great job Ford . Hope you don't screw up pricing like with 2011 Fiesta and don't bump up prices like with Ecosport in case you get huge demand (which this car seems to deserve).

Re: Ford Figo-based compact sedan - The Aspire

Indeed, after quite some time, looks like Ford have a good car. I am hesitant to use the term 'winner' here since the pricing is not been disclosed. Like many have pointed in earlier posts, the beige color is not something that I am comfortable with, but, that's not a blocker for me. Other points that tick my boxes:
1. Safety - 6 air bags, ABS+EBD -> Check (with additional hill hold assist)
2. Boot Space - Need upward of 300 litres, looks like this will be the case -> Check
3. Foldable rear seats -> I think this is a check again (?)

What I would really need in this car to seriously consider this:
Ground clearance >= 165 mm
Driver Seat height adjustment & Seat belt height adjustment
Auto locking doors

Any idea on the above? I hope they don't pinch pennies by giving smaller size steel wheel as a spare instead of alloys. Cruise control would be a bonus.

Eagerly awaiting the team BHP official review on this one.
