re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2013. EDIT : Ford EcoSport it is!

I faced a dilemma before casting my vote with three equally good contenders.

Obviously, I have only one vote. So who won and why?

The Ford EcoSport. Reason is safety. Each engine option has a variant with 6 airbags and ABS. The other two cars have only 2 airbags and ABS.

Besides, the Ford EcoSport Titanium(O) and Titanium AT variants constitute 3 out of the 4 sub-one million rupee cars with 6 airbags [the other one is the Hyundai i20 1.2 Asta(O)].

Safety must be rewarded. Affordable safety must be encouraged. So the EcoSport wins my vote. Kudos to Ford, well done!

For Me its the FORD EcoSport. They introduced a new concept in the indian Markret within the right price range. The Ecosport is commanding a Premium if you want one today.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2013. EDIT : Ford EcoSport it is!

Voted for EcoSport

Reasons:

1. A new class/segment
2. A big gap filler
3. Attracted first time SUV buyer
4. Good urban SUV
5. Prudent Pricing
6. Wide array of Engines to choose
7. Design and product quality

This product was missed by most of the car manufacturers in India. Renault created a sensation which was extended by Ford and now made others woke up.

My second option is Mercedes A-Class. The pricing and segment doesn't attract votes, But still it created BMW and Audi to create and complete is a new segment.

BTW, The list has an option to choose "Worst product of the year too" :-)

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2013. EDIT : Ford EcoSport it is!

Its the Hyundai Grand i10 for me. Hyundai managed to improve an impressive i10 and the Grand i10 deserves its name (though its poor choice for a name really!) Its the perfect balance of design, space, features, performance in a neat small package (one that is not too taxing on the pocket). Coupled with Hyundai's generally good reliability it is probably the best small car in India and perfect first car for anyone and everyone.

PS: Would have voted for Ecosport but I think MUVs/SUVs winning the car of the year in India might become a norm, given how SUV crazy we are.

Voted for EcoSport.
BTW: Isn't there anything from Maruti stable this year? Quite strange, isn't it? Also, nothing from Tata Motors?

I guess it is not necessary. The Verito Vibe will be chosen by consensus.

Without a doubt it is the EcoSport. A true game changer and a phenomenally accurate response to a long neglected market need!
It is a superb vehicle and ticks all the boxes for its specific target consumer segment.
Overwhelming market response clearly crowns it as the King this year!

Another vote for the Ford EcoSport. It's got it all - looks, price, equipment, handling and great engines. I was particularly impressed by the 1 litre EcoBoost unit's flexibility.

Voted for Ecosport. Not because I own one but due to the fact that it's one of the VFM cars available right now. It might not be the best but something for that price it certainly is.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2013. EDIT : Ford EcoSport it is!

Voted Ecosport. Good out-of-the-gates pricing, lovely looking and engines that the masses have taken to. AT transmission too, which people now are looking up to. And class matching/leading safety kit (including 6 airbags).

All rounder.

Voted Ecosport for being a VFM proposition. Mainly due to its pricing for the host of equipments.

Voted for Amaze... it changed the fortunes of a company in India, which will ensure a few more years of Quality products in India.

re: Team-BHP Car of the Year, 2013. EDIT : Ford EcoSport it is!

Looks like the results are more or less clear on the first day of polling.

Voted for the Ecosport because that is the only car I have driven from the list.
Not sure if I would get to drive any other cars listed here till the poll closes. The only other two I would consider is the Amaze and the I10 Grand out of which Amaze looses out due to the plain interiors and the i10, becuase of its average handling.
The plus from my side for these two cars would be the engine- Amaze, and the overall package-i10 Grand.

Regards

No guesses, its the Ford EcoSport. Ford would also walk away with "Worst Customer Satisfaction Award-Booking & Delivery"

My vote is for Ford EcoSport. This car has redefined the meaning of compact yet attractive SUV which feels premium as well.

If there was a choice of second vote then it would be for Honda Amaze!
