Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

That taillight is sort of ruined by the logo. Wish they integrated the logo better.

Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

Volkswagen to bring electric cars to India to select cities in 2021.

Volkswagen India: The Way Forward-.jpg

- Will not be a mass offering

- It’s more a selective market where people who own two or three cars will replace one in their garage with an electric car

- Likely to be the I.D Cross

- Marketers to find about a thousand potential customer names and the location of their garages, so that the company can reach out to them with an electric offering

-Volkswagen remains committed to diesel engine technology for larger cars, you can say from the Passat or Golf class onwards for upper segments

- VW will keep pushing for Euro7 and more standards in diesel, and these will be produced for the Tiguan and upper segment cars

- VW confirms that diesel is likely to make a comeback in cars like the Tiguan in India as well.

- At the moment, Volkswagen will discontinue diesels from its entire portfolio by the BS6 emission norms deadline.

Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

The Koreans have taken the entry CSUV segment to a point where these Germans look lacklustre and outdated in terms of design, space and proportions. I will be more than happy if VW-Skoda is able to place the foot in the door with these 2 cars but the chances look bleak.

Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

So I turn on Youtube and this car is in my recommendation page. I click on one and the first thing I said was "Hmm an extended Polo with a gaudy taillight".

I don't see it pulling the crowds investing in a Kia/MG right now. I'd like to know the dimensions but from the videos it appears a tad smaller than its rivals who are all grown up.

This might be an "Apshagun" for VW if this is what their "Vision" is for the future.

Only chance is if they undercut the Seltos in pricing which I very much doubt they'll do.

Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

Volkswagen's update on India plans:

- No diesel in smaller cars
- Tiguan diesel variant will come to India in BS6 regime
- For India EV's are not a mass market, owners likely to have them as their 3rd car.
- Open to bring EV;s to select cities if the market survey is positive.

Did they missed announcing the prices or I missed?

somethings don't change. Why will they not announce pricing? or Introductory pricing at least to take advantage of all the hype they have created.

Re: Volkswagen India: The Way Forward

What would be the basic dimension difference between the T-ROC and the Taigun? I am guessing the T-ROC will be a bit longer?

Another issue with the T-ROC will be its positioning compared to the Skoda Karoq.

It is not exclusive to India. This is VW's new logo and global brand design that was introduced at last year's Frankfurt Motor Show. I work in advertising and personally, VW's brand design started to feel very old and clunky over the last few years. As VW has started focusing on electric cars and looked to move on from the diesel scandal, the launch of ID.3 was the perfect time for a brand refresh.

I think it works pretty well, especially in the digital media. Ditching the chrome effect and going flat has made the logo more flexible and easy to use on videos, apps, websites, social media etc. They have already implemented it in Europe and are doing it in India starting with the Auto Expo. New simpler, cleaner Indian website is also now live: www.volkswagen.co.in

The Taigun looks promising, I only hope they price it right.

OK, thanks for updating me!

Of course I prefer the traditional, but then I would. And if I was to research, there have probably been other revisions over the course of the brand's history.
