The
once formidable king oft he C-segment, the
Honda City has seen itself toppling off the hill in recent times, mainly due to a slew of launches from manufacturers in the C-segment, like
Vauw-Way Vento
, Fiat Linea, Maruti SX4 and most importantly,
the Hyundai Verna! The Hyundai Verna went on to become the king of the C-segment, thanks to it's aggressive styling and a long feature list, combined with the Hyundai's A.S.S and marketing muscle.
Now, the tables are set to change, atleast as Honda thinks! The all-new
(If I can say that) 4th-gen Honda City has been launched in India at a VFM price. So, the head-honchos at Hyundai are all set to introduce new variants to their champion Verna sedan line-up.
Not too long ago, Hyundai had introduced an SX(O) variant to the Verna line-up which adds projector headlamp, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, safety escort headlamps, smart key with illuminated start button, chrome outside door handles, leather upholstery, automatic headlight control and illuminated power window switches. This increases the already impressive gizmo count a step further.
Now, a new variant dubbed CX would be launched, which would be powered by the 1.4 CRDI diesel that does duty in the i20 and it would slot between EX and SX trims. The features most likely in this variant are utomatic climate control, electrically adjustable and foldable outside mirror with turn indicators, 2 DIN audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, steering mounted controls, electro-chromatic rear view mirror, rear parking camera with sensors, ABS and driver side airbag.
Hyundai's strategy is to up the
price-to-value quotient of it's cars. So, we can expect facelifts from the company to keep it's products up-to-date.
Keep revvin'
