Baleno, Ignis and the Gen Next Swift are likely to be made at the Gujarat plant,Maruti Suzuki accelerates pace on Gujarat unit.

the company is likely to make its upcoming compact crossover, the Ignis, in the Gujarat plant, and also its Baleno hatchback. The Ignis is also expected to be made at its factories in the National Capital Region but, the source said, with the proximity of the Gujarat plant to ports, the crossover's export units might be made at the site.

Analysts say MSIL is likely to exhaust the 250,000 units per annum capacity of the first assembly line in Gujarat in less than two years. The company's Japanese parent, Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), has decided to put another Rs 6,500 crore into the Gujarat plant for a second assembly line, to add another 250,000 units annual capacity.

MSIL plans to sell two-fifth of the five million cars expected to be sold in India by the year 2020. In 2015-16, 2.02 mn cars were sold in the country and 1.3 mn were made by Maruti.

Suzuki’s Gujarat Plant in India Starts Operation.

Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited (SMG, located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat in India), a 100% subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corporation for the production of automobiles, has completed construction of the Gujarat Plant (located in Hansalpur, Gujarat).

Vehicles produced at the Gujarat Plant will be supplied to Maruti Suzuki. Initially, Baleno premium hatchback will be produced for sales through
Maruti Suzuki’s NEXA channel. Production lineup is scheduled to be increased according to the market situation.

Maruti Suzuki’s production result for 2016 was 1,515 thousand units in total from its two plants in Gurgaon and Manesar, which had been operating in full capacity. The Gujarat Plant will gradually put its production on track. Its annual production ability would be 250,000 units. Gujarat Plant No.2 and engine/transmission plants are also planned to be constructed, which are aimed to start operation in the beginning of 2019. With the completion of the Plant No.2, Suzuki’s production ability in India would be 2 million units to meet the expanding needs of automobile market in India.

Contract Manufacturing terminated,

The company's board which met on Monday, approved termination of the contract manufacturing agreement with Suzuki Motor Gujarat Private Limited (SMG) and exercising the option to acquire the shares of SMG from Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) subject to all legal and regulatory compliances including minority shareholder's approval.
