Fiat @ Auto Expo 2014

Fiat used the opportunity presented by the Auto Expo to showcase the Avventura Contemporary Urban Vehicle (CUV) and launch the Abarth 500 in India. Other cars on display include the Linea sedan and Punto hatchback.

Let's start with the much awaited Avventura.
The Avventura looks stunning in person. It is based on the Punto and is less than 4-metres in length, which will help Fiat price it competitively. The vehicle is expected to be launched in the October - November 2014 period. Pricing and engine options will be announced during the launch.

Re: Fiat @ Auto Expo 2014

Fiat has displayed the 500 Abarth many times before. This time however, it has announced the launch of the car and the Abarth brand in India.
The price of the car has not been disclosed.

Avventura has been a surprise from FIAT and must say it has been well executed compared to the competition- Etios Cross, Cross Polo and Fabia Scout.

However, otherwise it's been another ordinary show from FIAT. No Punto TJet, no Abarth Punto Essesse, no Jeep- enough said.

Re: Fiat @ Auto Expo 2014

Interesting to note that both the Avventura and face-lift Linea seem to be getting 6-speed MT. Does it also mean that they will have the 1.6L MJD under the hood? Although it doesn't make much sense for the sub-4m Avventura to get a 1.6L diesel, maybe it will be available in the top-end version?

Re: Fiat @ Auto Expo 2014

Avventura looks stunning, thats how a lifted version of the existing car should be created. They should have given that face as a facelift to Punto, and 1.6MJD would be awesome to have.

Re: Fiat @ Auto Expo 2014

If they had gone with a Red/Black color for Avventura, it would have got more attention. Mean looking machine.

Re: Fiat @ Auto Expo 2014

Interiors are rather good. Nice instrument console!
Good they've worked on the seats - was difficult for some people to find a proper seating position.
Hope they've made them abit soft too.
Avventura looks really good. Will it fight the EcoSport?

They're ruining the one thing that worked for them : the looks. New Linea externals look HORRIBLE, especially from front. Looks are subjective so, anyway.

Does any car get the 1.6mjd, nope.
Does Linea/Punto get the 6-Speed MT? No
All-round Discs : Nay. Just as before, only in T-jet.
Sports mode : With the 1.3mjd in Linea? Never mind!

Others are procuring Fiat Subsidiary Magneti Marelli's AMT and calling it all sorts of names : F-Drive, EZDrive. Why not Fiat?

99% people know nothing about the Abarth story/brand. Going by the weird name, I wouldn't bother.

Probably the current exterior looks better than the facelift, but it looks to be a big leap when it comes to the interiors. The renewed dashboard looks wonderful.

I doubt it will fight the Ecosport, which is more of an SUV (Only in the looks department) where Avventura clearly is a beefed up hatch. However - I think it will go right to the top of the segment, a very niche segment though which includes the Cross Polo, Etios Cross and Fabia Scout.

Avventure clearly sports the 6 speed gearbox. I wonder what stops them now from bringing it to the other models!

Talking of looks - i think its growing on me. I like the TJET displayed there, specially the rear looks. Wish they had retained the front looks of the older one though.

And yes - A big oppurtunity missed with the AMT gearbox. They are doing the same mistake again as they did with the 1.3 MJet.

EDIT:

After some more staring - I am quite sure I love the new rear design! It really looks classy, yet less bulky compared to earlier one.

Re: Fiat @ Auto Expo 2014

Half disappointment from Fiat. Although Avventura is a head turner it will wait n watch to see how the production roll out is going to be. Abarth launch was expected in the Punto, the 500 looks puny. Also it needs to eb confirmed if the modified front grille and air dam of the facelifted Linea will be used in the forthcoming Punto and the existing classic.

One area where Fiat has failed to address is the under thigh support for the seats - front & rear. Even the new Avvetura seems to have a flat rear bench. If Fiat can get the pricing right for the Avventura, they will arrive with a bang.

No clue why. :P

Yes clue why. A fellow enthusiast on FB said that as per JV with TATA, FIAT needs to share any new engine assembled in Pune plant.

(Doubt : Isn't the T-Jet manufactured here now, but then again the T-Jet is an Expensive engine & TATA is a VFM player.

Edit : OR, is the T-Jet just 1.4NA + Add-on Kit? Then I wonder if the 1.2 FIRE was incompatible with the Add-on kit

hmph Confused life of a Fiat fan)

Fiat does all the tech hard work, and others gain whilst they miss out.

Any idea if just the Front bumper & Grille can be changed to the old one? There are no sheet-metal changes, so I guess wheel arches shouldn't mis-match right?

Re: Fiat @ Auto Expo 2014

I liked the interiors of the new linea but i still fancy the exteriors of linea classic.

I just wish the new linea had the same old front bumper and grille.

I am guessing they wont be providing the t-jet engine with linea classic anymore?
