That's 17 variants for 1 car! SEVENTEEN!!

I guess they must have beaten the poor old Indica as well with this figure. There used to be a thread on Indica and how so many variants confuse the customers (can't seem to locate it now). Does that not apply to the Verna?

There was also a thread regarding manufacturers not providing enough options and variants for their cars(Maruti Swift)
So you can't please everyone and each individual has his own opinion.
I guess it's better to have more variants for each car but only if there is some logic or conventional wisdom applied to the introduction of the options.

The website still lists the old variants' prices. They should be removed after the existing stock is sold, I guess.

So the list includes both the new variants and the discontinued variants. Of the seventeen, the 1.4 EX diesel has been discontinued, as has the 1.6 EX Automatic (in both petrol and diesel). The 1.6 SX(O) Automatic has been discontinued in petrol, while the same continues to be available in diesel.

That leaves thirteen variants on sale - 6 in petrol and 7 in diesel. The Verna also comes with a choice of 2 petrol engines, 2 diesel engines, 2 manual gearboxes and 1 auto-box in 6 combinations.

4 engines and 3 gearboxes in 6 combinations which can be had in 6 petrol and 7 diesel variants for the Verna - I think there is one for everyone in the C2 segment.

For comparison, the City has twelve variants on sale - 7 in petrol and 5 in diesel, with a choice of 2 engines and 3 gearboxes which can be had in 3 combinations.

In their quest to be the no.1 in the segment, both Hyundai and Honda are trying to appeal to as many customers as possible.

Guess the stocks are still there and avaliable at some dealers so till the report of all clear (inventory) from ALL dealers reach the headquarters, update to website may not be given.

OMG, I will say it is crazy to have such variants for one car as it involves high inventory and all sorts of permutations and combinations to keep the customer happy and make the manufacturer crazier. Why can't they keep it simple?! I understand it will help gain more customers as the car will be available across W.I.D.E range but doesn't make sense to me.

I would say confuse rather than appeal here. Customers who enter will scratch their head when they sit down to decide and TD the car before booking and purchase.

I wasn't able to find any pictures of this new CX variant, does it come with DRLs in the headlamps (Eagle eye)?

Being the only manufacturers of affordable diesel Automatics even Hyundai skeptics are looking towards it.
I haven't seen a review of the diesel Automatics isnt any Team BHP 'ian having one.

Its mentioned that the SX variant of the 1.6crdi has the supervision cluster and rheostat removed. Can come one throw some light as to what they are?
