Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

What are those things next to the rear wheels anyway? I too saw the same car on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway the other day.
Also what are those raised bumps on the back of the Nano as can be seen in the photo of post #58?

Saw this test mule near KR Puram bridge, Bangalore this afternoon. Was driving on the opposite side, hence no pics sorry.

Saw an identical mule being tested near JNMC , Belgaum, with lotsa testing gear attached to the rear wheel.

Had a MH12 temporary registration on both the plates. Couldn't take snaps as it wroomed off in the opposite direction.

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

I am considering the Nano Twist AMT for my wife. She has said that she will struggle with the manual, hence the reason for waiting for the AMT.

If any 'birdies' have leaked the potential release date of the Nano AMT, please share the same.

The case is the same with me too. I am looking out for an automatic to be used by my wife and this one is on top of the list. The other car on the list is e20 which could be a lakh cheaper if the new 35% subsidy on pure Electric Vehicles gets implemented.

Guys, any update when the Nano Active will be launched? After having owned one briefly, I am itching to get my hands on this one.

Many are in the same boat, especially those who owned the first version. Couple of my friends told the exact same thing.

I am eagerly waiting for the Nano too. Looking at the backlog order of AMTs at Magneti Marelli for the Celerio and the Zest, it is likely that the Nano AMT will launch only by the end of the year or early 2015.

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

Early 2015 looks too optimistic! Until and unless Magneti sorts out the production constraint, I don't think Tata should launch it.

Spotted this camouflaged Tata Nano at Wilson Garden, Bangalore this evening. This car had a clunky gearbox, shifts were unusually loud.

The rear alloy wheel looks big, it's definitely not the standard 12" wheel with a 155/65R12 tyre. Could this be the rumored 3-cyl. petrol Nano being tested tested and fine-tuned by J Anand's Jayem Automotive of Coimbatore?

This certainly sounds like a preliminary Nano Active with the Magneti Marelli AMT being tested. One hopes they eventually get the AMT to work smoothly.

Re: PICS: Tata begins testing Nano Twist Active AMT

67 BHP on a Nano? Frankly, it will be overpowering and will raise safety issues.
I am scared of going beyond 60 kmph in my 2011 Nano as I always think of how unsafe it might get beyond that speed although it easily does speeds of upto 90+ kmph.
I mean it's okay to have a high powered engine but there should be an equal effort to design it like the Smart for 2 which has a composite cage body that could take high speed crashes and still emerge not disintegrated.

But, pardon me, I guess it's too much to ask of Tata.
