The article mentions "In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 35,248 units last month, as compared to 32,403 units in April 2013, up 8.78%. During the month, Hyundai's exports declined 39% to 14,974 units as against 24,550 units in the same month last year."

So they have increased YoY on the doestic front, albeit with Grand and Xcent pushing things along.

Re: March 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

April 2014 sales figures of most companies out. Only Tata Motors' awaited amongst the top 5 companies:

1) Maruti 79,119 (-12.6%)
2) Hyundai 35,248 (8.8%)
3) M&M 18,148 (-12.5%)
4) Honda 11,040 (30.1%)
5) Toyota 8328 (-20.4%)
6) Ford 6651 (66.2%)
7) GM 5302 (-35.2%)

*Figures in brackets is Year-on-Year growth / decline

Looks like Tata Motors will slot between Honda & Toyota, or in the worst case scenario is number 6 below Toyota. Ford now belatedly seems to have prioritised EcoSport's domestic sales over exports, but is it too late!? It sold 6027 units of EcoSport in April versus an average of around 4000 units per month for the past 6 months.

Re: March 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

New Financial year opens with Less volumes.

M&M falls 2% on low April sales, unseasonal rains impact

http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/buz...ce=ref_article

Same is the case with Maruti and Toyota
http://www.moneycontrol.com/news/bus...p_1077966.html

Exception being Hyundai and Honda, which have increased sales

Seems like the difference between #1 and #2 will be going down down the line.

Its the worst case.
Tata managed just 7441 nos last month, down by 36% against April'13.

Nano/Indica/Indigo range: 5653, Sumo/Safari/Aria/Venture: 1788

Re: March 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Nissan's sales numbers are available now.

April 2014 domestic sales (April 2013 numbers in parenthesis):

Nissan - 2,610 (1,239)

Datsun - 2,691

Source: Deccan Chronicle

It looks like the new low cost brand has overtaken the established mainstream brand in terms of sales in just the second month!

Re: March 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Tata numbers are a bloodbath! In March their sales were just a hair above Renault+Nissan+Datsun, in April it looks like they will be far below. Hopefully part of this is just reduced dispatch of Vista/Manza while waiting for Bolt/Zest. But those cars didn't have high numbers anyway, so there is more going on.

I hope this is their worst case and there wouldn't be any worse than this.
Now Tata is officially #6, if Toyota sold 8000+ units.

If Renault numbers are out [Officially], and if they are any more than 2600, then Tata motors would slip to #7 in our list. [Considering Renault+Datsun+Nissan being one brand] And my friends, it will be the biggest move for any brand in our charts. I think, Duster itself will manage these numbers.
