It's better to have Renault, Nissan & Datsun as separate brands, or at least as Renault and Nissan-Datsun. While they are manufactured in the same factory, they have completely separate sales & service and distribution channels. Even their corporate facilities are different.

I guess there was a small confusion in that post. Both numbers are correct, but the context is different.

The Japanese brand sold 7,562 units in the domestic market. 766 cars were exported, so the total number dispatched out of the factory is 8,328 units.

The number that matters here is the domestic number (7,562). That is still enough to place Toyota at #5 on the charts for this month (as they have a slender lead over Tata who sold 7,441 units).

Surprised to see such low numbers from Amaze. Clearly Xcent effect? I guess Amaze will loose to Xcent for sure. I personally saw one Xcent over weekend & it looks smashing. Better than Amaze, & interiors are way better than Amaze. Xcent offering more features at lesser price in Xcent which is plus for them. Only sore point is 1.1 L diesel engine. Lets see how market reacts to it over next 3-4 months. Battle is going to be tougher once Tata launches Zest with diesel AMT.

Re: March 2014 : Indian Car Sales Figures & Analysis

Both Amaze and DZire face the heat in the cluttered < 4m segment. Amaze drops 30+% while the Dzire slips 17.67% in sales (2013)
With a few more upcoming launches in this segment, it will be interesting to see the winner here.
