re: Scoop: Updated Tata Safari Storme in the offing? EDIT: Now launched

6-speed gearbox was a concept last year. As per Tata's history expect another year before we see it.

Climate control, MID and a touchscreen system is a glaring omission when people compare this vehicle to the XUV500.

I agree with most users here and I have no love for this refresh.

i am the first one to agree that at this price points some more gizmos are desirable, but would gladly trade them for more robust engineering. I have been driving the storme for over 10 months now (used to own SUVs earlier too- Scorpio, Safari Dicor and Captiva), and to date, the Storme never fails to put a smile on my face when i drive it. I hope that this remains the case for as long as i continue to own the Storme.

Bottom line- buy it if you like it for what it is- a well engineered product with enough creature comforts to make your drive comfortable.

if that doesnt work for you, there are other options available. To each his own.
Hi Himanshu

Personally, I'm not after any gizmos like those in XUV500. I can turn on the lights and wipers myself, turn off the engine in traffic myself, etc. In fact I wouldn't prefer such gizmos on a truck I would frequently drive into wilderness. But when buying the top most model which should be around 15L I expect at the least features like plush leather seats, etc which are already there in my current Dicor VX. ACC is standard feature in most vehicles in this range and also expected.

In the current situation I'm inclined to keep driving my Dicor, though she's getting old and visiting the doctor twice a week on average.

BTW, had a thought looking at the Varicor 400 images previously posted in this topic. Maybe they are planning to have a model above VX which is going have the 400nm engine with 6 speed gearbox and better interior specs. Might be priced 16-17L.

Bah, I can't believe I'm getting into the speculation game but couldn't resist!!!

It says Storme will come with VARICOR 400 Engine but the same 5 speed gear box.

I am praying that it comes out to be true

I had a chat with sales advisor from Prerana today. He confirmed that LX model will have 5 seats (not 7), no ABS, Front disc brake rear drum brake, possibly no music system, but with new engine with 150PS same torque. He said if I book now he would deliver the new lX, he also confirmed there is no old LX in their stockyard or in the factory.

I am really disappointed, why remove 2 seats and ABS.

I suggest we wait for the formal launch. There are too many rumours flying around.

I believe (like what is said above) that TML has tried a mish mash of features on the test mules. Coming to leather seats not being on the VX test mule, the leather itself and how it holds in the long run have already been tested on the earlier versions. Why would TML waste money testing it all over again?

The leather seats are no longer given on the existing Storme VX versions also. They removed the leather seats sometime back and reduced the prices marginally.

re: Scoop: Updated Tata Safari Storme in the offing? EDIT: Now launched

Hold your horses friends. Lets wait for the launch in May. As far as I know (don't ask me how), the Storme refresh will come in a revised nomenclature, what is seen in the pic is the entry level or one level up, somewhat like the current EX. The VX or whatever the top end is going to be named will have the harman touch screen, with automatic climate control and optional leather upholstery. And the engine is the 160ps 400 nm engine, currently supplied with the 5 speed gear box, I am still not sure if the top end has the 6 speed unit or not, but after launch, they are looking at an automatic box too.

I am really looking forward for TML to launch a real market beater. Give me a.c.c, 160ps, 400nm and of course cruise control and I am okay not having the rest (can get better ones in the market) However, if they again shoot themselves in the foot by pricing it northwards of 15L, I would rather got with a Scorpio (although it looks ugly now IMHO) where I have more variants to choose from. Fingers crossed for May!

Tanveer, have you been approached by TATA to carry out a review for this vehicle? We are eagerly looking forward to one .

Ha ha, looks like you missed the footnote at the bottom of this article, it says that pictures are taken from team- bhp. Which means the content there is based on the pictures posted earlier in this thread.

re: Scoop: Updated Tata Safari Storme in the offing? EDIT: Now launched

There seems to be a product guide for the new Stormed leaked in motorbeam website. Detailed and with some 33 slides. Seems more disappointments on way for all those who waited for the 400nm storme.

I am keeping my dicor!

re: Scoop: Updated Tata Safari Storme in the offing? EDIT: Now launched

Well... what can I say? I think there are 2 Tata Motors. One which works on all other products (Zest, Bolt, Hexa etc) and one that works on Safari.

Only features I could appreciate are the heated mirror (with electrical retract) and all wheel disc brakes (not sure if this was present in pre-facelift storme)

I am holding on to my Innova for 1 more year (sigh)
