re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

The shape reminds me more of sumo grande with spare wheel on tail gate.

Hope it comes out nice.

This doesn't appear to be the same as the Quanto engine. There's speculation that the 80 is for 80 hp, I hope that isn't the case as it will be underpowered !
May be the "80" refers to 80kW? It looks more probable since the current 1.5 litre in quanto already produces in excess of 100 BHP and also keeping in mind that the 4 cyl bigger M Hawk is capable of producing 140 BHP in the XUV.

This is Quanto with flattened/Bolero type body panels. Overall proportions exactly matches Quanto.

Proportions look good in the spy pics. Hope they do not go overboard with the grill/bumper, like they did with the XUV5OO. Will be interesting to see the production version.

I was surprised to see much hype on 4WD/AWD with a 1.5L power train.

Deflate. When on sand, deflate - if possible as far down as 10 psi or less if you're confident about your tyres staying on the rims.

Most people just drive onto sand/beach just because they have an AWD, without taking basic precautions. Then they get beached.

Suzuki Gypsy/Jimny comes in a punny 1.3 Ltr gasoline engine with 80 bhp and with a 4WD!

I don't think that Mahindra would name it with "kW" unit simply because there are very few people that understand that unit. PS is de-facto standard and M&M would follow the same. Some of my friends even think the Celerio's nomenclature in NM as confusing but personally I like the torque figures as it matters more than BHP for a diesel.

Well, kW is only not used widely in automotive sector. Otherwise, it's pretty much the standard unit of power elsewhere, eg, electronics sector. In fact, Watt is the SI unit of power too.
Though I agree it seems a bit strange to name an engine with a smaller number like that. Even the existing 1.5L 3-cylinder unit is called mCR100, after it's power count in PS.
And as for the Celerio motor, the torque figure is the only somewhat convincing number in the full spec sheet of that engine, and that too, clearly for the intended LCV applications of the motor in the future. Here, they just had to use that number in the branding, to try and cover up the embarrassing power figure and cylinder count!!

The second picture (height in comparison to Innova) and the third one gives a eerie resemblance to Quanto. Hope this is not a refreshed Quanto. Also the rear profile loks curvy. Hope they don't mess it up.

Yes to me also it looks a lot like Quanto. Too tall for the length.

If they want to make a mark in the C SUV space, they need to design something radical and refreshing as the XUV 500 when it was launched. Another Quanto lookalike wont work.

Why 3 cylinder and not 4; more fuel economy or something else? The launch event on zigwheels compares it against so many different brands including Creta, Terano and Duster. 3 cylinder engine is for sure to make it lose some weight in that comparison.

The actual on road pictures posted today by Aditya show that looks and physics has turned out to be way too different than the one in this quote that dates back to 2014. Not only the name shift from a "U" to a "T" but also appears to be a completely different vehicle. Perhaps the original manifesto did not survive the tough market competition that has brought so many breakthrough launches for the buyers .

Yes, I too think that initially it was designed to be a Bolero replacement, but later decided to make it more muscular and not to replace Bolero.

So, what about Mahindra lineup of UVs? TUV, CUV, Quanto, Xylo, Bolero, Scorpio, XUV...?
