Re: Mahindra scoop, identify this car

The SUV in question is the new updated Scorpio being tested.

The new Scorpio consists of:
1) New headlights more of straight lines and edges.
2) New Tail light.
3) Most probably a little change in the side cladding.
4) Little change in interiors and seating.
5) Engine remains the same Mhawk engine.
6) A completely new suspension which is more softer for more on-road comfort but it seems it looses completely on bad off-roads.

(Above information I gathered from reliable resources.)

Re: Mahindra scoop, identify this car

This is certainly the Scoprio facelift/next generation

The straight raise of A-pillar defines scorpio as also seen on the test mule.
Though overall it seems a bit shorter than the earlier version.

Sorry guys. But this is way too short to be the Scorpio, whichever way you look at it.
It's definitely the new Bolero IMO.
Mods: please merge the two threads if its certainly the Bolero.

I second you. Definitely not the Scorpio, dimensions quite small to be one; it seems to be new Bolero.

Re: Mahindra scoop, identify this car

The first thought that came to my mind was their mini-SUV in the making aka S101. However, we've already seen enough spyshots of that and it looks more like a hatch towards the rear end. This looks taller in the rear. Are they working on two mini-SUVs in parallel? The length seems to be around the 4m mark considering the abrupt end after the rear wheels. Could it be possibly another avatar of Quanto?

EDIT: Checked the new Bolero thread and it certainly looks like the next generation Bolero would indeed have a sub-4m version. That would be the cheapest mini-SUV in India and probably something others cannot match in terms of price!

If this is a Bolero in disguise, then I'm afraid MM might kill it with such a design!

Let Bolero be as it is and make changes to make it better and not carry out a revolutionary design, rather bring in an evolution.

The straight lines and old school boxy profile gives it a character and is liked by the rural India, which is its main buyer.

MM should think twice before launching a sub 4 meter Bolero as it's Xylo failed miserably and should not worry about challenges from Ecosport or Duster, as for them Scorpio is enough.

The front grill, the bonnet and the windscreen are definitely Bolero has all over them.

Please merge the this thread with existing Bolero thread.

Some one mentioned that the new Bolero might come in different body lengths, a sub 4 meter as a SWB and a LWB as a people's carrier, similar to LR Defender 90 and Defender 110. If the SWB comes comes purely for Off-road purpose than won't that be eating into Thar territory?

Anyway let's see what MM is up?

This definitely looks like a new Bolero to me. The driver side glass, length of bonnet and angle of windscreen match the pics present in the existing Bolero facelift thread.

Did you guys really miss the spare wheel mounted at the rear? Scorpio / XUV never had it!

It would be an option for those who prefer a completely covered vehicle which also can be used on highways.

re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

I agree with Parm on the Bolero. The Bolero can evolve further but sticking to the core design of the Jeep lines. Bolero sells for its looks, reliability, durability and the fuel-efficient engine.

Few areas where Bolero can be improved:
- Provide a bit more powerful engine, the 63 bhp is very less on highways.
- A fold-able rear seat to increase the utility factor.
- A marginal increase in the vehicle length to make the rear jump seats a bit more usable for short trips.

A revolutionary change to Bolero will not do any good. Example is what Tata attempted by doing the Sumo Grande to replace Sumo. The Sumo grande could never sell.

Bolero is a character, M&M please improvise it with retaining the true roots.

Doesn't this look like TATA Sumo Grande?

Perhaps M&M think making a rugged vehicle round curvy and "feminine" = new design.
I am sure it will bomb if it comes out as Bolero.

Re: Mahindra scoop, identify this car

Saw something similar to this with rear wheel mounted in GST Road, Chennai last week. But that as not to the size of XUV. Its much smaller to even Bolero, may be similar to the size of Ford Ecosports.

That's the new Bolero and Super Ace competitor. Scorpio is bigger

Considering this looks like a 4m vehicle, the spare wheel position is no surprise. Even if it were a mini-Scorpio or a mini-XUV, it would have been the same case. Xylo doesn't have a spare wheel on the boot but Quanto does.

Re: New Mahindra Scorpio (W105) coming in 2014? EDIT: Fresh pictures on Page 17

Spotted this car in Chennai, sorry for the blurry pics as I had to take these pics from a long distance. I am not really sure that this is the new Scorpio as the shape felt different, can somebody confirm? The 2nd snap shows it near a Brio.

If not scorpio, what else can it be?

The short stance makes it hard to be a Scorpio. I guess this is the upcoming Bolero facelift.
