re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

Last week, when we were at Sireesh Auto, the sales rep told us that TUV3OO is the replacement for Quanto and NOT Bolero. He said that Bolero is too popular for Mahindra to even consider discontinuing it.

Can anyone confirm the same?

Note: Sorry if this has been mentioned earlier in the thread. I did a quick scan of the thread and couldn't find any mention of the same.

To the best of our knowledge, this is a new offering. Probably being slated between the Quanto and the Bolero. Doesn't seem to be a replacement as facelifted Quanto's being tested have been spotted by our members.

Anyone with friendly birdies - please throw more light.

He told us that the Quanto production has already been discontinued at the factory and they are selling the last few at a discount.

Assuming that this information is correct, will the facelifted Quanto be out soon? Any estimated launch dates?

PS: Is his info correct at all?

Yes, the production of the old model of the Quanto has been stopped and the dealers are giving discounts to clear the stock. This is because the refreshed version of the Quanto is being tested and will be launched. This could also have an AMT.

re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

Had a chat with a mechanic at local Mahindra workshop who just returned after training for TUV300. He was quite enthusiastic and shared following bits -
1) The car will be launched next month.
2) It's design was initially very much mini-XUVish but Mahindra made lot of changes after that.
3) The name of the car - TUV300 is not final. It may be changed.
4) The car will be available in Turbo-charged 1.5 3 cylinder diesel engine and in 1600cc petrol engine with ARAI mileage of 18 kmpl and 24 kmpl respectively.
5) Base petrol to start from 5 Lac rupees onward.
6) Space is comparable to Ford Ecosport.
7) The car will be equipped with class-leading features. Front sensor will be there to provide auto-braking in event driver fails to apply brakes to avoid collision at front. Somewhat like in Volvo cars.
8) Also, loosely talked about AMT availability in TUV.
9) He also told that another car will be launched post TUV. It will be purely 4x4 single variant rugged car as Bolero.

Great info but I highly doubt this -

It is quite an expensive tech which is not even available in the XUV and Scorpio!

Petrol is more fuel efficient than diesel?

If it's true, then it is great pricing. One will be able to buy a 7 seater UV for about 5.8 Lacs. I think even a Swift costs that much!

What the vehicle needs is the option of AMT in both petrol and diesel and not just in the top variants.

He also mentioned it to be a 5-seater. No third row seating option as per him.

The spy pics that we have seen the previous pages clearly show it as a 7-seater with 2 jump seats in the back. Maybe he has seen the top end version which could be a 5-seater? Just curious.

Most of this information seems suspect. The name surely is TUV3OO. A mini XUVish design cannot be tweaked to suddenly become boxy. Diesel mileage probably cannot be lower than petrol. Space will most probably be better than Ecosport

^^+1

This maybe the other Mahindra that's been seen testing around - the one that looks a lot like a hatch. Pure 4x4 single variant Bolero is also suspect going by their past actions - they launched even the Thar in a 2wd variant!

Yes, may be he was trained in M&M's new micro SUV, and next one after this is TUV.

re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

Going by the pics posted earlier, I think if the car is technically sound and has all the bells and whistles, this will sell. IMHO I do not expect it to be a game changer, becoz it may not serve the purpose set out by Bolero and neither will it sway opinions of Urban youth who look for a smart looking UV.
