re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

Excellent. I hope it is a 5-seater. I prefer a spacious 5-seater to a cramped 7-seater. Also, with a small family, personally, I have no use for a 7-seater. Now did someone say 6-speed AT? This means that Australian DSI again. That is a good news. This would be much better than an unknown AMT set-up. I only hope 1.5 litre engine has enough grunt to move it at a good pace. The car looks good even without cladding. With cladding and a little touches here and there, it would be fantastic. Love that Jeep grille.

Attached find the pics of TUV 300 being tested at Bikaner yesterday. They stopped from taking pics from inside. The Red one is with 6 speed auto transmission.
Thanks to i74js for the Pics. Please Mahindra price it well and like many others I would like to own it too. Wish the tax reforms increase the vehicle length to 4.5 meters. It would bring more sanity to the designs.

Advance booking starts September 1st 2015. One more wait !!

One more from the same album, this one is with manual transmission
Thanks, not able to get a sense of the size though, in some pics its looking bigger than Scorpio . Because its sub 4m the overall dimensions must be like Ecosport only. Since you saw it in flesh, what is your take?

I think the design is great from the front and from the side up to the rear doors. Then it abruptly goes south!

Looks really good. It is really refreshing to see a nice boxy, clean SUV for once after being bombarded with a lot of curvy SUVs. Kudos M&M

re: Next-generation Mahindra Bolero? NAMED: Mahindra TUV300! EDIT: Now launched at Rs. 6.90 lakhs

Looks pretty neat! I think this should appeal to both rural and urban buyers alike. Probably will eventually eat into the sales of the Bolero. I hope Mahindra has sorted all the ergonomics and quality issues before launch. In this day and age when we talk of Make in India there cannot be different levels of quality where someone can say "For an Indian manufacturer its a good effort". The XUV is a great product but most people suffered with some issues. Here's hoping nothing of that sort with this one. If priced right I am ready to put my money on this one as this ticks off all the right boxes:
  • Butch Looks (check)
  • High ground clearance (check)
  • Diesel + Automatic (check)
  • Decent aftersales (check)

From the pictures I feel the rear bench may be cramped in the interest of offering side facing seats. Hopefully that is not the case. The side seats should also be removable completely for that added flexibility. Can't figure out where this will be priced and what does this go up against!

I hope that mHawk80 doesn't translate to 80ps. Quanto with 100ps was a decent performer, not great but decent. I hope Mahindra has put in some decent performance.

It is comparatively better in dimensions as compared to Quanto and looks balanced to me. Still looks are subjective and may depend upon individual choices and expectations from a manufacturer.

I would say it looks clean and young.

Looks definitely much better in real than the camo!. How are they going to fit this and Quanto together? and not to forget the other S101?

Looking at these pictures and value proposition that Mahindra brings to its products, TUV300 does promise a lot. Hope the dynamics are good.

Yes it is a ladder on frame construction. It is based on a new modular chassis which Mahindra has developed. It is used in 2014 Scorpio and also all new ladder on frame products that are being developed currently are based on the same with varying lengths & tracks.

While the front grill and headlamps share some similarity with the Jeep Grand Cherokee, the rear end is a Copy, Paste from Quanto. I would say, a design well began and ended ugly!

To me, it looks like 3/4th (Bolero) + 1/4th(Quanto)...

I can see Wagon-R, JEEP, LR Disco, Quanto inspirations; where the hell is the tank inspiration?

Exactly my thoughts!

It badly needs a rear bumper. The car just ends abruptly like the designer just came to know that he cant go any further.
Somehow my earlier perception is still intact. TUV is looking incomplete without plastic body cladding all around.

Its still a Quanto rear + SUMO Grande box. Cant find any inspiration of Tank though.

I thought I'd seen something similar in the US on earlier trips - yes it's the Scion xB, (Scion has more rounded wheel arches and is much better looking of course! ) Link
Anyone else with me ?
