Autocar India says U301, which is thought to be the next generation Bolero, is actually a new vehicle that will compete with Renault Duster-

Bolero being the cash cow for Mahindra I am sure they won't take the risk to replace it with all new vehicle. This should definitely be a new vehicle or they will sell both vehicles like Safari/Storme.

Somehow I feel sub 4 meter compact SUVs are eyesore barring Ecosport.

If its the same twin turbo 3 pot 1.5 that does duty in the Quanto, they might as well shelve the plan right away. Apart from being unrefined, this engine does not age very well and its torque characteristics are completely messed up despite two turbos.

The "Thar" is a sub 4 meter SUV that looks great!

However, the U301 holds a lot of promise, having the chassis based out of the new Scorpio, compact dimensions and the creature comforts of a lockable cabin. This vehicle might turn out (if powered by the right engine) to be an epic offering.

It is probably the same engine. The 1.5 is the 2.2 mhawk minus one Cylinder. It has only a single Turbo, but twin scroll.

Those look like alloys and not wheel caps. That's a first for a test mule spotted here I guess.

Cropping the pic from your own post to bring out the overall proportions of this vehicle.

This surely has markings of a proper SUV (especially with the Scorpio's new chassis). Something that is sure to look forward to.

Amen ! As always, looks like the Mahindras "know their customers". If they come up with a good warranty package to address the lingering concerns of the early adopters of a heavy diesel vehicle with AMT, they have a long-term winner in their hands.

Tata's look a step behind in their strategy, but Mr. BD at the helm, I have high hopes of an epic battle in the marketplace

Guys any clue, at least a vague one, of the U301 launch date?

Would it be launched by this year half?

Going by Tata and Mahindra history they may test these as long as they like, but still any hope of seeing this in showrooms before September or where abouts?

Apart from the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine, Mahindra is likely to offer a petrol unit on the Bolero.

This is already beginning to look so good on the overall proportions (maybe bigger wheels would be better) and the straight lower-waist line. But coming to think of it, since this is a Mahindra, they could even possibly ruin it from here by adding unwanted, curves, slashing, flame surfacing, cheetah inspiration and what not (oh! Mahindra is gearing up to launch the all new version of its best selling SUV - the Bolero. Spy shots of the upcoming U301/Bolero have been pouring in for several months and we now have a clearer look at what the SUVs dashboard looks like, after fresh images of the SUV's interior have emerged.

Looks promising. I hope M&M do a decent job of packaging the interior and refrain from overstyling the exterior. Given its target price point of 6 to 9L, expect long queues in front of M&M showrooms if the above two are executed well by Mahindra.
