M&M has provided a sketch of the vehicle. It will be officially called TUV3OO ( Two O's ). Launch is in Aug/Sep. Not sure what more details will be made available today.

Mahindra has unveiled its first sketches of the TUV300. The TUV means 'Tough Utility Vehicle'. It will be powered by a new set of advanced mHawk 80 series of engines that have been developed by the Indian automaker in-house. I am not sure what 80 signifies, but I guess it could be the power output.

Mahindra has clarified that The TUV3OO will be launched in September 2015 & Mahindra has clarified that this new model will not replace the iconic Bolero SUV which still sells like hot cakes.

Mahindra and Mahindra have announced on Thursday that the new SUV, previously named Mahindra U301, will be called TUV300 and will be launched by September. Close on the heels of launching the new face-lifted Mahindra Thar, Mahindra and Mahindra are gearing up to introduce an array of new UV models in India in the coming months.

The new Mahindra TUV300 sub-4 metre SUV will come with the 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder mHawk diesel engine that produces a total power output of 100 BHP and will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Mahindra TUV300 is a compact version of the Mahindra Bolero, but not a replacement of the Bolero and will be sold alongside the SUV.

Moreover, Mahindra is also expected to launch the AMT and the AWD versions later this year. But, the Mahindra TUV3OO will not come with 4WD. This year, Mahindra has already launched its upgraded Mahindra XUV500. The new SUV, Mahindra TUV300 is expected to be based on the new ladder-on-frame chassis.

The Mahindra TUV300 is expected to have a boxy design with a tail gate spare wheel along with swept-back clear lens headlamps, rectangular fog lamps, roof rails and 5-spoke alloy wheels.

The Mahindra TUV300 is expected to be a 7-seater. Mahindra is expected to bank heavily on the compact Bolero's mileage to make a dent in the market.

No doubt they start their inspiration from an M1 Abrams or a T-90 or even an Arjun MBT but by the time they make it it will be like a TV-1 or a Mendeelev Tank. Hope they prove us wrong, but would they?

I have a strong feeling that TUV300 will be the silent killer which will munch out the competition from Duster, EcoSport....

N expect Magic if it is priced in Jazz range!

This is the vehicle they Should have equipped with a 4WD. It checks all the right boxes for it otherwise. Its compact, it has 4 doors and a lockable "hard" cabin, wheels set far back into the corners (with almost no overhang).

It will be a shame if this is given just an AWD system without the Low-range.

If the TUV300 doesn't look like the Quanto and the interiors are on par with the bigger XUV, then I think Mahindra would have left the cat among pigeons! An AWD would round it up nicely as a "life style" compact "SUV"
